A couple "corrections" are perhaps helpful: Firstly: The FLX-30 does NOT have a "Weed Mode". I know, I know, LOTS of Seller sites (and this video) say it does, BUT it doesn't. You can SET the equivalent of a "Weed Mode" using Power Settings and Frequency Settings, but there simply *ISN'T* any "weed mode". That is on the 28, but is NOT on the 30. SECONDLY, the new version of the FLX-28 which costs $710 has a lithium battery and is essentially the same weight as the FLX-30. So it's not correct to say the price difference is $80 AND say the FLX-30 is lighter. The non-lithium version FLX-28 which *IS* heavier is $650 new. So the 28 is either $140 less and heavier, or $80 less and the same weight.

So I thought I’d chime in since I have used both units side by side on two guide trips recently. I jig lake trout in 100’ water and have previously ran two flx-28s. So far when running the flx-30 next to the flx-28 you have to change the flx-28 to a different frequency to avoid interference. I run the flx-30 at 225 frequency now and it has worked flawlessly next to the 28. So far not crazy amounts of difference, I haven’t explored too much into it. Both mark the same fish when fishing 5’ from each other. I will always run Vex

Very glad to hear your own experience with the units. Lake trout are not something we get a lot of opportunity to pursue often. Thank you for watching.

Also the 30 has color blind option where you can see the colors if you are red green color blind.

They all seem to be the same to me. I stay using my handy dandy FL8. A $100 purchase vs a $600+ purchase. They catch you the same amount of fish, and they both mark fish.

They do, but the 8 doesn't have a low power mode which is key here in our shallow application and they retail for $289 now in a Genz pack. $100 is a deal.

If you’re buying a new flasher, yeah flx30. But if you already have a flx28, there’s honestly no point. The extra features don’t outweigh the extra $850.

Agreed unless you fish very deep water there is nothing outrageously beneficial.

Excellent video. what can you tell me about the flx20
@sevenfishyoutube4 жыл бұрын
Flx 20 is a nice unit that has bottom zoom in 6 and 12 foot options. It has low power mode and a couple of color pallet options. It has the same flat screen brushless operation as the 28.

You didn't mention the transducer, isn't that what makes the 30 able to operate at different frequencies? I thought that was the technology that makes it "broadband" versus the 28 and it's ProView transducer. I haven't seen a whole lot of info on this new transducer, but from my understanding changing frequencies allows it to operate like the old tri-beam where you can virtually set different beam widths. The 28 with its proview is a more variable width view, but I think the 30 may have capability to go out a little wider. We'll be curious to see how it performs on the ice, I hope you're able to do a side-by-side comparison video.

I'm hoping, but we really need to get some ice.

@@sevenfishyoutube I hear that. Nothing more than skim ice where I'm at, still in the boat this week actually

So major upgrades is weight/interference rejection zoom options max dept etc? I have a 28 on marcum shuttle atm..might pick up a 30🤔🤔🤔

If you are fishing really deep water like Lake Trout, using a narrower cone (higher frequency) with power to push it deep will be helpful. The 18 foot zoom will help you track those fish that follow your spoon up off the bottom too. The wider cone (lower frequency) has power to get down but at that depth will see too far out from under the hole(28).

Depends on what you’re doing! If all you need is a flasher the 28 is great! I wouldn’t talk bad about either! Heck an 8 gets the job done!!
