I lived in Coronado 67-68. I loved to see the C1, the S2 and the WF squadrons roll in over the Hotel Del Coronado coming home from deployment in South west Asia. Loved it!!!!

Wow, that brings back a lot of great memories of being a college kid working at our local airport. The CDF (CalFire nowadays) had a base there, and they ran S-2's as fire bombers. The best memories are of being on a riding mower, cleaning up the weeds between the taxiway and runway, and having the bombers scramble. The wingtips would pass about 15 feet away as they took off, and the sound was amazing! The C-1 is a beautiful aircraft, and it's really great to see one flying in its original form.

I have always had a soft spot for C-1, S2Fs. I absolutly would love to have one. When I see one not in flyable shape I want to take it home like a lost puppy and love it. Thank you for this video. I love their sound. I was on the USS Madoxx as a reservist. One weekend we were doing anti sub exercise and the S2s were doing criss cross and I ws in HEAVEN. Thank you for keeping here fl;ying.

There was (still is?) one sitting out off one of the runways at KBVY in Massachusetts. Been there for something like 20 + yrs. Owner used to come and start it the engines every so often but don’t think he does anymore..

Was lucky to have jumped from these birds in the 70s. Damn small door had to hunch up. I was a Marine with 1st Force Recon at that time.

Same old plane. Left engine failed on t/o. Good performing acft even on one engine. Stayed in the pattern and landed. Now have a new engine on the left side. Now back on the airshow circuit.

What' the difference between this aircraft and a Grumman Tracker? They both look similar to me.

Yes,exactly. I thought that’s a Tracker when I saw it.

Cargo version of Tracker. 80% parts commonality. Wider, deeper fuselage that has 11 total seats. Note the windows under the wing & extended engine nacelles that held life rafts for the pax and no MAD boom under the rudder.
