Yes these fish fight really hard. They are known to grow very quickly in this lake due to tons of food availability. So they are all around healthy fighters

glad you did well...i was there tuesday until noon and it was pretty dead from the shore...loads of bugs...just saw one hook up on a fly and lost in the weeds...i guess a boat really helps this time of year

Nice video with some good action, and it pays to have friends take you out in the boat this time of year because the shore fishing isnt that good till the fall again. Keep up the good work!

Thank you Bob! I appreciate you and all of the support you have shown the channel. New friends and they are not only nice but they are also good fisherman and have a boat! I just got mine all dialed in and re-registered and ready to start taking out myself.

Awesome fish! What is your setup look like? I’ve always wanted to fly fish a lake/res but don’t know how to set up my fly rod
@ReelHustle1002 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sergio! I usually bring two fly rods. One is a 5wt 4 piece 9’. And I set it up with 3 flies. First a parachute adams, followed by a hopper, then a dropper of some sort, sometimes a damsel, or Calabaetis, or chirodamid. My second rod is a 7wt 4 piece 9’. I usually set it with an indicator and 3 submerged flys such as balanced leach, scud, and a chirodamid. They are both St. Croix rods. Obviously sometimes I switch out the flies and switch the depths That I am fishing. And sometimes I even threw a streamer.

Man thats awesome just bought a fly rod and headed to antero today to give it a shot new to the fly fishing Any suggestions or tips
@ReelHustle1002 жыл бұрын
Try to match the bugs you see on the water! Use 3x tippet to keep fish out of weeds. Be patient. It’s a tough sport but once it comes natural you will love it
@Zavala2112 жыл бұрын
Thank you I appreciate the advice keep up the hard work on them badass videos
@ReelHustle1002 жыл бұрын
Thank you Zavala more coming soon! I’m gonna keep trying for every three days or at least twice a week! Good luck out there and I hope you enjoy your new flyrod. If you do you see anybody hooking up and doing well don’t be shy to ask them a few questions. Let them know that you’re new to it and you could use a little advice. Most the time people are pretty friendly. Sometimes you will run across someone not so cool. But it’s worth a chance to learn a few new things in feasibly start hooking up if you are having a slow day

Antero provides. Sucks you missed the big boys but good day

Yeah that very first fish seemed like a big dog. It’s pretty common that they run into the weeds. When they do that one of your flies gets caught in the weeds allowing the fly that has the fish hooked to free itself
