New Zealand has some big rainbow and brown trout in its backcountry rivers and me and Pawel set out to go and catch them fly fishing with a dry dropper rig.

You have made my day. The good news is that Pawel and I made some plans on this trip for the next trip. A big one and I will film it if all goes well weather wise. So probably a bit of a gap in between but more coming. I'll see if I can edit that salwater one in the meantime. Thanks so much for the support.

I'm glad to see you uploading videos and that you've got 15,000+ views in 12 days. People have obviously missed you. Neat to see you offering advise on Chris' channel about the rubbber band as a hook keeper for your second fly.

Thanks so much. It's good to be back making stuff, and I'll keep doing so as and when I can. I have a couple of plans already, so hopefully, there will be some more before the end of summer here, so keep an eye out. Chris is cool, and that channel has some great info and videos. I have been following his photography exploits on DP Review and now Petapixel for years as well. Would love to go fishing with him one day.

Thank you so very much. Incredibly appreciated. Me and Pawel already have some plans in the works in a few weeks' time, and if all goes well, there should hopefully be an awesome video or two from it. So keep an eye out toward the end of February if I don't get a day trip in before that. Tight lines and thanks again.

Great wild fishing. I sympathise with your falling around in the river. I started using pants that you can put knee pads in and if I don't have high boots on I sometimes wear a thick neoprene wrap on my lower legs.
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing 6 ай бұрын
The knee pads sound like a good option. I have seen similar with shin guards used by competition fly fishers. Might have to get myself some.
@jamesdunlop5796
@jamesdunlop5796 6 ай бұрын
Something else I thought of is to find a seamstress to sew a pocket onto your favourite fishing pants and then put the foam knee pad in when you want. That is the arrangement for the pants I use and several other brands from Scandinavia. Another bonus is some of them have a material that stops blackberry/bramble holes.
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing

Thanks man, yes Pawel does love his fish pond stuff. I don't think it's a carbon net, more like a hard plastic but it's a nice net. Fish lay nice and flat in it.

What gear did you use (line/rod weight) to catch these huge wilds?
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing
@CrazyAboutFlyFishing 6 ай бұрын
I used my 6wt Primal bold with 6wt Airflow ridge line, but normally, I would just use my 5wt setup. Unfortunately, I broke the foot of a guide on that rod, so I had to use the 6wt. I was fishing 4x tippet.
