As a saltwater angler, and someone that just got into fly fishing, I totally understand the need for the perfect leader set up! Not as much in the fly fishing department, but leaders are super important for saltwater in all aspects... I'm ready to learn!

Hi Brian,after moving to the country,I have waited over a year to join the local fly fishing club.Bingo,I'm in at last. So,having not really done any,but got loads of gear,I have returned to your tutorials,wow,how good they are! Going over the leader stuff,which I had forgotten,is coming back,hope will put it in place before too long. Will have to revise my knots now aswell. My old neighbor used to make leaders by tying different thickness of line end to end showed me a couple times pretty cool..kinda like how a whip works.

I still do that now after trying the tapered leaders and I find the tied leaders are more customisable for me.

Can you use any fly line on any reel or have you got to match the line with the reel please thanks Craig

Reels are sized for rods and lines. Best to match them up. Check the reels on our website and sizing is clarified there of course.

This reminds me of what do you want? You don’t want a drill. You want a certain size hole. The three purposes are a tremendous in sight on how you assemble any leader.

Could I just use normal mono leader/flouro leader for tippet

@Madriveroutfitters what I meant is if my tippet gets too short, could I put normal mono leader, like for a spinning reel, and not put tippet instead
