@ sorry can I ask a question. I noticed in your review you used as a floater the #8. Did you try a #7. I plan to use the rod from a boat, can I ask your advice. Thanks

@ the rod is rated for a #7 and is fine but personally I think it takes the #8 no problem at all. I am now using this rod as my primary lochstyle rod. 👍

It was a Hardy Demon 7000. Had two of them for years very good. Don’t think they produce them anymore.

IMHO your first session on the dog when early afternoon you had a few hours solo. That shot from the drone overhead of you in the boat was the only shot of yours that rivals it is the fly past shot of the chapel at Rutland. Please do not sell yourself short my friend your achievements during your journey and love of the fly. You have earned both Army, veterans, and National caps. In major competitions. Both Stillwater and rivers. In many parts of the world. You worked hard to build your skillsets. Justly earning the respect of your peers. Remember John Knott during the Falklands conflict. His definition of expert. “Ex” is a has been. Spurt is a drip under pressure. The combination of your two favourite things the fly and photography along with you just being the all round good guy you are. That is why we watch your content.

One way to sort out the lack of a keeper ring. Make a loop using heavy mono or braid if braid I suggest add a drop of uv resin to stiffen it. Then tape it or whip it to the rod just in front of the cork handle.
