Thanks dude. Your videos are very good. I can’t fly fish for trout here in Illinois. Wish I could go catch a trout someday other than the once a year stocked rainbow and the very rare native brook trout. Here in Illinois, we have some native brook trout in the central part of the state but their range says that they are East in Iowa and north in Wisconsin

Brookies are my favorite to catch I caught them from Minnesota to South Carolina to Maine I guess I'm a Char fishermen. They're really the native Inland fish would love to catch more bull trout. And maybe one day fly fish for lake trout in Northern Canada's big Rivers. That would fill the bucket of my list.....

Great series. I love watching you on the water. You never fight the water. Plus it is classic Drew to watch you stand back at about 25 30 feet throw a darts then a great mend. Fly never seems to move on it’s drift . 😂 You have a lot different water in your videos that makes them pretty cool. Curious to see where you take us in the fall. Love the videos Drew. You make it look so easy. Not just catching the amazing fish but able to do it on camera in focus. Awesome. Quick question: I want to do a similar trip to Colorado camping in car short hikes to fishing spots. What is a good resource for where to go for good fishing, safe camping and not many people? I don't have a ton of vacation time so aimlessly driving around just won't work. Thanks
@LooknFishy4 жыл бұрын
Thank you kindly! So I wish there were just one or even a few sources that I could point you to. But honestly, I use everything from social media, friends, maps, blogs, hiking websites and just start reading and taking notes. For example, I spent 4 hours last night reading a guys blog and got 3 stream names that I'll dig more up on tonight. The names weren't listed...one post was about terrible fishing but in it he mentioned a plan B and good fishing on another stream. To get started, pick an area and just look at the blue lines...get names and google them to see if any thing comes up...there are time I might be on the 10th page before I find something of value. It probably helps I don't have another hobby, don't watch TV or anything else really...I like reading about fishing lol!

My usual recommendation is the orvis encounter...still got the one I bought when I got into salt about 8 yrs ago! Just be aware it doesn't come with a warranty. Rod, reel, line and case for ~ 200.
@countrycreekcaster50204 жыл бұрын
I would start with a 5wt 8’5” or 9’ medium action. Floating line until you get use to casting, then move to wf (weight forward) lines to cast bigger flies and further. Reels buy what you can afford. Pretty good cheap stuff on amazon. Good fishing.
