I’m a beginner to float fishing, and I’m in Michigan. How do you find these rivers? What river is that?

Very cool, I fished that same creek about 35 years ago. At the time, very few people knew the fish existed there. I don't think I ever saw more than one or two people fishing. A coworker first took me to all his secret spots, and I was blown away after catching 15 pounders in places you could spit across.

you are fishing private property in most of them locations and are trespassing, trail creek does not have a public right of way in the creek even if you stayed in the water ect also having another person net your fish by them entering the water is illegal. only the person on the rod can net their fish in water. all others would have to net on land to be legal per indiana law.

Great trip...Get a net with a little more actual net..when the fish is finally in, hold the handle straight up and down and he will wrap himself up...and the handle and loop of the net wont take such a beating. Looks like you guys found some great action and had a lot of fun. Sully loves you guys. He said tonight...Dad- I want to Do ALL OF THIS STUFF!

When your making salmon remember you can eat fish raw so that means you can't under cook it but can over cook it . Try frying your salmon in butter leaving it rare in the middle and it will be the best fish you ever tasted. Also when cleaning it remove the skin with a knife do not peal it away with a pliers.if peal it off it will make the fish rubbery

A skamania is a not a salmon mixed with a steelhead, it is it's own genetic make-up, and they do spawn naturally but with low survival rates do to high summer time river temps

@elliotdavisonman45 жыл бұрын
is this in the great lakes region? If so I had no clue steelhead stayed in the tribs all summer
@nathanmaynard1314 жыл бұрын
If I’m correct the Skamania strain of steelies make their runs in the summer in northern Indiana. Trail creek river mouth by the pier as well as up stream is where people catch them. Not many people know you can catch fish like steelies, rainbows, Salomon, and pike/musky in northern Indy. A very diverse fishery for a midwestern state
@garrettlambert41286 жыл бұрын
Do you realize all steelhead in the great lakes are stocked and they arnt native
@oscarbank12806 жыл бұрын
He means those steelheads are specifically stocked on the summer run to eat because they aren’t gonna survive the warm water. Yes all steelhead were stocked but now most of them turned wild which reproduce over and over for generations and have natural runs at certain times of the year
@garrettlambert41286 жыл бұрын
Mini Bank I'm not stupid.......most steelhead in the great lakes don't naturally reproduce. It's a stupid low number and is the reason why they stock 50,000 plus fish each year in the rivers

Seems early for a steely run..
@sampletext64186 жыл бұрын
Pwrcritter they’re a different strain of steelhead so they run in the summer rather than fall through spring. Those fish are skamania steelhead which are a hybrid between salmon and steelhead and were first bred in a hatchery in Washington. They were brought to Michigan somehow. They’re longer and more slender as well as more aggressive than the average everyday steelhead.
@chazwiles63686 жыл бұрын

Trail Creek in Michigan city Indiana eh. Why not just say where you're fishing? It's not like you're the first one to ever fish it and people don't recognize.
@Exite216 жыл бұрын
He doesnt say where he's fishing to not bring more attention to a spot than it already has. Perfect example is your comment............Many of his viewers would have had no idea where he was fishing unless you said something -.-
@AdrianPerez-be8ms6 жыл бұрын
Wheres this spot? I've been to the trail 2 times but haven't had luck
@jasonmasters96536 жыл бұрын
That's a far fetched theory. Most viewers are fisherman, they already know or have heard of the "hot" rivers, once a fresh video is posted they flock to that river because the fishing is good. You say it as if there are newbies watching youtube that have a revelation and say, "hey I've never fished before but let's go fish in that river". Think of it as a fishing report with video evidence, also need to consider that all these streams and creeks are recognizable to those that have fished them. A secret is just that, it's kept to yourself, there are no secrets when it's videoed and posted online. I've yet to find a secluded spot on a river where the fishing is good, is what it is.
@tommilbury91956 жыл бұрын
jason masters many of his viewers are from other states and it's very possible they had no idea where he was until they see comments like yours. That's exactly what happened for me. Don't complain about that if your the one naming things. He didn't put any big land marks in the video, so its probably mostly people who have fished there before who can tell where it is. As long as he isn't saying the names and putting obvious land marks in it the only new people who are gonna find the spots are probably gonna be from comments like yours.
@jasonmasters96536 жыл бұрын
I never once complained about "new people" fishing anywhere, all are welcome. I personally don't care who fishes where, how many or what youtube video prompted them to fish there. These are PUBLIC streams, remember that, it gets tiresome when some act like they're the only ones in the know and lay claim to public resources. All I said is he might as well say where he's fishing, as in who cares? frankly, the only real secret, is that there's no secret at all. lol
