That's a great spot below Rebers bridge and congrats on those huge browns! I grew up on that river and never caught anything that big, other than some fat carp in there;). I need to get out there this week and try for some of these bigger trout. I did very well between the stilling basin and Water Road a couple weeks ago, all on caddis larvae and olive buggers. Great video and best of luck on your next trip!

Christopher Heck thanks for the comment Chris. Can't say I grew up on the Tully but have fished it quite a bit over the past 8 years. Get out there and catch a giant! Thanks again.

Can you imagine catching a wild bow that big on the Delaware River system?
@gabrieltrevena59677 жыл бұрын
I live 15 minutes away from the tulpehocken and you should come back and fish now before the water is too warm for the trico hatch real early. It's awesome then.

Wooly Bugged Notice you're fishing a lot of stocked waters,I've guided in N.C. for over 20 years and the past couple years my "go to fly "especially on stocked waters has been the "mop fly" I like the cream colored ones,add an orange or red dot on the butt with a sharpie and add some soft hackle around the head.Size 10 scud hook with tungsten bead.Simple tie,extremely productive.Best wishes

he will fish 70 degree water, so I don't think he cares about the temperatures. Just look at his other videos. Its a shame.

I’m just getting into fly fishing and my friend and I fly fish there all the time, or at least try to. Is there anyway for us to either link up and fish or would you be able to provide any tips for us to be more successful?

Do you mind showing a photo of the caddis fly you picked up in NY? From the video the body looked thin with little to no taper. Obviously it was effective. Great job. Still have your wading stick in my truck, lol.

Todd H I found this picture on Google of a similar fly, almost identical swittersb.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/green-bead-head-pupa-sb.jpg I gotta get that stick one of these weekends!

Todd H when I post my blog entry tomorrow I'll include a photo of the actual fly.

Surprised they stock trout that size. Good on your State. Do you guys use sow bugs in Eastern tailwaters? Pretty popular pattern here in the West. Nice fish and good video Angler. Well done!
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
Big Papi I don't typically use sow bugs in the tailgaters but I do use them in the spring creeks around Carlisle, like Big Spring.

great video. do you mind telling me what size leader you were using on those fish? Nice fish
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
Trout Bum don't mind at all. When I fish the Tully I use a 9'-5X leader until late May early June when the fish become picky and the water is low. With some of the bigger fish in there, going smaller than 5X is risky. Tight lines!

were you using any weigh? nice vid
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
balor7 I was using very little weight, just one split shot splitting the flies. Split shot was smaller than BB size.

Try to catch a wild fish, i know it's fun sometimes with stocked fish, but for me not anymore. It's like shooting at deer in a barn

Try some oil on that reel
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
Steve Kohl I was wondering how long it would take for someone to notice that! Ya, I dropped my rod in the water on a previous trip and had forgotten to oil the reel. It's well oiled now!

nice vid..would love to find this area you was at....I fly fished mostly donegal. oh..and a leak 2 weeks ago from some spill.killed all the stocked trout..natives are there yet..anyhow.being i live close now to tully.swartzville/adamstown...I dropped in at tso shop in sinking springs.first visit..got a orvis clear water 4 wt.all new set up.8 ft 6.. 4 pc..minus my reel that i have 4 of.lolcheap.but works like a dream..hit area right at end of paper mill road..lots hits..not a good bite in half hr. tried a cadis light tan pattern..and also tried my special made bwolive wet..no hits on that.but down over the hill from the house..the last yrs left over few trout.nail it all day long..but anyhow,then the rain hit..but it was def a nice sight...my first peer few feet out just getting there,seen like 6 huge ones...just might be my fave stream..once i get more useed to it..

Also...do you put your go pro on your chest or head?
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
Tyler Ross 9'-5X plus tippet, not too bad, pretty standard for the Tully, definitely not a Catskills length!
@WoolyBugged7 жыл бұрын
Tyler Ross I put my GoPro on my head. I find that the chest shots don't turn out well because your arms, hands, and reel get in the way.
