FLY FISHING THE DRIFTLESS REGION: Early Fall Trout! A perfect day! (South Bear Creek, Decorah, Iowa)

Fly fishing the Driftless Area in the Fall really doesn't get much better than this! After a very productive morning and afternoon the evening was shaping up to be just as good! It doesn't hurt that our first fish came off the hopper! That is about as late into the season as a terrestrial bite is ever going to get. With days becoming increasingly shorter and the nights getting rather chilly.. Our hoppers and beetles are all dying off. So to get a fish like that was absolutely amazing! Fall days like this do not come very often and I feel so blessed to have been there for all of it! South Bear Creek is a super fun river and will more than likely be on my list to hit this winter! Get out and enjoy the Fall before Winter comes! (Just keep an eye out for Redds)

Epic day! The Bears have been kind to my dad and I. Stood side by side and caught 40 browns and bows out of one hole a couple winters back.

Fished it about a month ago and I agree it's a bit too crowded but good water. North Bear has some nice fish as well. Great vid as always!

I fished that exact same hole towards the end of you video last weekend on my trip up there. Didn’t catch the browns like you did at S. Bear. We did catch a few on the upper Iowa while staying in Bluffton. Been there several times and never considered trout fishing there. Won’t make that mistake again. Another great video brother🎣🎣🎣

Yep, spawn is definitely on- I actually came across a few big browns digging redds on trout river the other day. Pretty cool!

Its an old Fishpond Pack that I have had for so long now! I might have to do one this winter!

Love the South Bear, but over the last 4 years or so has become so over fished. I wish the DNR would consider making it a artificial lure or flies only with length limit for keepers . There are so many stocked streams that allow 5 fish per person and really so few streams that are not other than a great supply of put and grows

I have had some of the same issues depending on when I would fish it.. the bears can be a bit fickle for sure.
