DISCLAIMER: Credit Cards are a touchy subject. PLEASE BE COMPLETELY DEBT FREE AND RESPONSIBLE before using any of these methods. These methods do involve high-interest credit cards, and while it is completely money-neutral if done properly, it does have the risk of causing debt if done improperly.
This guide goes over EVERYTHING I know about Chase Credit Cards and using the points system, and is the video version of the text guide I created in 2020 for flying for free. I've had multiple people come up to me at events and tell me that the only reason they are able to make it is because of my points method.
I'm not responsible for any debt accrued by using this method, and am not a financial advisor. I'm just a nerd who likes going to esports events.

IMPORTANT: There is an in-person sign-up bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred right now that offers 90k points (~$1,125) if you go in-person. If you are from the future, please check any sign-on bonuses before signing up for cards.

Hi everyone -- this video took an incredible amount of effort, time, and knowledge to make. If you enjoyed it, please consider giving a like/subscribe. More importantly, PLEASE DO THIS METHOD RESPONSIBLY. I do not want to be responsible for costing you money. You know your financial future, and you know if you are equipped! In addition, there is an incredible amount of information to digest and talk about, and I tried to simplify it as much as possible. If there is anything you would like further explained, I will be answering in the comments, and I encourage everyone to join me in answering any questions people may have. In general, use this as a jumping off point. It's overwhelming at first, but once you settle in points will come naturally and you'll be flying for free from now on. As mentioned in the description, there is a written guide that may help you that I wrote in 2021. It's slightly outdated, but still very helpful.

I am 27 years old. My parents swear off credits like a the plague and I was never educated on them until now. I feel like I been missing out so much on this and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this. From the video to the written doc, thank you for helping uneducated monkeys like me

Appreciate you giving a shoutout to card games at the end! Haven't been active in the FGC in 5 years but recently starting to travel for Yugioh and this dropped at the perfect time.

I got a Capital One Platinum Secured card as my starter card and when they refunded my deposit they upgraded my card to a normal Quicksilver card. No hidden fees. I don't remember if it had cash back as a Platinum but the Quicksilver does. The Discover It card looks like a great card too

The main thing I liked about it was that when I got my deposit back instead of closing the account they upgraded it to a normal card so I got to keep the account open and when you're building credit credit age matters. So instead of having an account that closed after a year or two however long it was, I still have those years counting towards my average. It's small but it helps when you're getting started and you have more credit history in open accounts when going for a second card.

That's godlike, I didn't know they would update cards like that. Nice of them for letting you get the deposit and keeping the years active!

I don't remember you mentioning this in the video, but if you use a credit card to pay for everything and ever have an issue with getting skimmed or your card stolen and purchases made it is a lot easier to get the charges reversed on a credit card than getting your money back on a normal bank account. I have been using a credit card as my main method of paying for everything (I just pay into the card every paycheck and have it paid off when the due date hits) and it always shocks people I know when I tell them I basically get free stuff and they can too but they just have to use a credit card and pay it off. I would love to see some videos on packing for events/traveling with arcade sticks. I have a 623P stick bag I use to bring my arcade stick and my PS4 to a friend's place but I am curious how you handle carry ons for large or heavy sticks (I bring an Etokki Omni with an odin drop in in the bag and it fits but is a bit heavy), like something that doesn't normally fit in a stick bag like a Fighting Edge.

Fraud protection is much much better on card than debit, yup. Super helpful if you get your identity or card stolen I don't use fightsticks but hitboxes which are easy to travel with, but I'll make a travel video for sure. I do have carry on logic down pretty well, I could make a video on packing for a trip!

@@YohosieFGC I have both but I prefer to bring a mixbox or keybox. The only difference for travel I have found is that without some kind of cover over the keyboard style keys they can get damaged/dislodge during travel. With a lever you either want a way to remove the shaft or you can cover it with an empty toilet paper roll/paper towel roll but I can't imagine fitting it in a bag with my stuff.

This guide is super cool! I do have a question though. I've been using different cards for years and I'm interested in trying the method you explained here. Do you have any advice for the best way to make that switch without having those old cards sit at zero balance and close over time while I'm using the "chase triforce" lol
@YohosieFGC
@YohosieFGC Жыл бұрын
I'd recommend keeping the cards you have open. Closing cards hurts your credit by shortening your overall credit history, I keep my old cards open, there's no harm in doing so. Don't be in a rush to switch, too! You can always get 1 card every 6 months or so.
