Review of 3 different baits we setup for the fly traps to see which works best. The goal is to find a fly trap bait that works with no cost, (Free Bait). 2 out of 3 were big failures but one shows some success in catching black biting flies. I re-baited the fly traps and will check on them in one week to see how many flies it catches.

Great comparison, we use left over seafood and scraps. Shrimp shells, crawfish shells fish skins work really well but like you said stinky!!

I have been using a little bit of cheap meat cat food in the dish, and put the rest in the fridge and replace after a few days. seems to work really good.

Awesome video buddy. I used your egg theory... added one egg, water and some left over fish blood meat. Success! I tested it without that blood meat and got some. But tripled my catch with the blood meat. Try by bringing your traps a little lower to the ground. Found it worked better. Wish I knew how to send a video your way. Aloha from Hawaii

That’s awesome. Every little thing helps. We are in winter right now, so no flies. But will definitely make adjustments to the height this spring and summer when they come back. Thanks for watching.

Y’all living in the south and having animals have probably had the same issues as we do. I hope to figure this out with things from or place that’s natural. I really thought the horse and chicken manure was gonna be the key bait.

The horse manure has to be wet. I have horses , when the horse first drop the poop , the flies are on it. Once it dries not so much. Plus once you wet the poop(manure)the smell intensifies. Flies won’t lay their eggs on dry manure. The key is moisture. Which is why you had more flies on the egg and water mixture.

Good tip. We have tons of flies and I'm making traps with bottles but getting a good bait is the hard part. Milk left in the jugs seems to attract a lot of flies too.

I’ve seen a few videos of the bottle trap and may add it to our place. We have tried so many things in the past to help the animals. Just a waste of hard earn money so I’m wanting to figure out something that has minimal cost.

My experience was anything with egg, kept wet and old is stinky and attracts the most flies, but being in direct sun is the main thing that seems to attract flies. My guess is if it's heated, it gets stinkier and more rotten. You can see my results if you do a search on Stable Pest Control. I saw mine and that's how I found yours.

So... I have these for chickens. I only use fresh chicken poop + some water, making it more soupy/adding "flavour" to the evaporating vibes & I recharge it with a new soup every day ;) I hang this in the Sun & low to the ground (next to my chicken tractor). It's insanely good! Summer here, in AU & in 8 hrs, it's a quarter full in a day. I'm testing another one out in my deep litter the coop. Anyone reading this in that situ? I'd appreciate any tips ;) Thanks for the video! If you experiment & get this right? You're gold!

You have to think, why would a fly go to the effort of getting into the trap for horse manure when there's already an abundance they can just land on on the ground. You have to make it worth it. Get something real stinky in there. Rotten meat, eggs and blood mmmhhm
