Not sure just why. One of your simpler flies in many ways. Just tied perfectly. Beautiful, really elegant. Thank you sir.

It was a pleasure watching you tie in Somerset this year. That little tip of peeling a few fibers off before tying off the hackle is so good. Subtle, but saves messy errant fibers.

I’ve been tying 30 years and have fished bwo’s on the south Holston river in TN for the same number of years. I started using this parachute pattern when I first saw rene harrop’s version and it has always been a very effective pattern for me. I had to comment on how you change the orientation of the hook in your vise. That is an awesome trick! I mainly use just cdc flys now but if I decide to go back to parachute style drys I will definitely use this trick! Again great video and nice looking fly!

Hi Clint, thanks thats excellent, so pleased that you have found it useful. If its CDC you use most, may I recommend that you take a look at my para weld technique for a CDC parachute hackle: kzbin.info/www/bejne/epKxgHdnh790rpI

Great tie. One question, for the parachute feather, do you remove the barbules of the feather that will be in contact with the post? Thanks for all of the great videos, have learned a lot from them.
@Thefeatherbender2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mike, thats correct but only on some patterns, generally the smaller sizes, i take less room on the post and give a much neater hackle.

Do you keep the cdc you cut off for dubbing or do you just discard them?
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Hi, I discard them.
@hankvana21495 жыл бұрын
Being frugal, I use the leftover CDC as a dubbing. I have pill bottles with a holes drilled in the bottom; it only takes a couple of seconds to strip the fibers from the stem and stuff them into the pill bottle and snap the cap back on. Find that these pill bottle dubbing dispensers are convenient for storing custom blends of dubbing as well.
@flydryriver49665 жыл бұрын
The feather bender Can I ask a personal question and get and honest answer, do you not keep them because you get the CDC for free or that you just can be bothered with keeping them?
@Thefeatherbender5 жыл бұрын
Hi fly dry river, a little of both, I'm lucky, I have enough CDC that I don't need to use time prepping these small off cuts.

Man, the one dislike bothers me...maybe they don’t like your accent? Because the flies are awesome...always!
@lovetheoutdoors94855 жыл бұрын
It's not the accent. It's just that they want to ruin a perfectly made tutorial video because they don't have a life.
