Flash is one of those materials that I never stop buying, even though I have more than I'll ever possibly use. "This one has a slight pink tint to it, I'll get three hanks."

Great video. My personal headache is trying not to buy every type of flash made. And then drive myself nuts trying to figure out what to use. Thanks for bringing some focus to the world of flash. And the shave the flash technique will now be a standard method for me.

Thank you for deciding to do this video. Prob like many other beginning tiers, there r always MANY small, but important details, features & subtleties. All often unaddressed, taken for granted, or not considered " sexy" content. The decisions for your content, and your authentic , personal delivery style r all VERY much appreciated.!!

BW the 2nd technique u showed, wrapping flash around bobbin tube and subsequent steps was REALLY , REALLY helpful. At first, I thought I had it...but then, a couple sloppy wrap hooks drained my confidence. So I came back to your Vid here, took extra time with attention to specifics, and now feeling much better about my modest skills. ThankYouVeryMuch🍻

Thanks for the tips Bryan! UV Polar chennillle is by far my favourite to tie with as well. I tie it in with all most all my baitfish patterns lol probably because I see you do it. Really makes your knucklehead pop along with using it on the bangtail, TNA bunker , flatliner , pearl necklace these are my top favourite flys I like to tie and get the most production out of . These were the first real streamer baitfish patterns I learned to tie after watching your videos. Cheers and thanks again for sending out the A.K fly to me the other week tried it out the next weekend and caught a nice 4lbs bass first cast. Will have to send you couple flys I tied from watching your videos . Cheers !

Excellent ideas for flash. The older I get, the flashier I get (and my flies).

With all the waters around me being murky at best, flash is a MUST in all my flies. I’ve found that I don’t like crystal flash in my tails as much, because it tends to foul on my hook more often than straight strand types… of course that was probably also due to the tail being too long 🙃

It's not really flash but I found some packing material for something that my wife got that is pretty coarse but has all kinds of purple/violet and opal tones in it. I guess what I'm saying is that sometimes you can find really neat materials outside of the fly shop and in this case it closely resembled flash. Keep the good stuff coming buddy.

Gunnar Brammer has a really cool trick where he'll but flashabou in a dubbing loop to make a flash hackle, usually wrapped in front of semi-flared bucktail. Blew my mind when I first saw it.

Nice tips on stacking & shaving flash. Thank you. If you don’t like flash that is too “flashy,” have you tried Flouro Fiber? It’s more subtle than most flash fibers & is good for color blending. On streamers, the red makes great gills, and works well blended between layers of marabou or bucktail for smelt, herring, shiner or perch patterns

@@flyfishingtheozarks lol... Sex equality lol. I received some of the Hair extension Flash! I've pulled at it, scraped it between my nails, hit it with heat, it moves great in water! And it's got to be less than half a millimetre width. 120 strand's 4 foot long and only £1.69!!! I bought it off AMAZON. As a tester I bought Holographic version it is absolutely perfect and at that price I'm going to include it in 'all' my flies and lures lol. It's so tough it's really surprised me. The Holographic is on both sides! Women put it in their hair and they Wash, Combe Brush and Air-dry it... It's definitely tough and supple.

I know you said you don’t do “flash” for the sake of flash, but I would love to see (and I tried to find it online somewhere) a large fly made with only flash materials. Where everything reflects! Something that mimics the large chrome or gold plated spoons I use for musky any like. I even consider going to a party store or craft store to find something with gold sequins. If you try this out let me know!

kreelex or flashabou game changer bro. you could even put a spoon as the tail on the game changer and then just use fllashaboob instead of feathers.
