Mike, Just stumbled upon your videos and I need to say great job and super enthusiasm !!! My wife and I are in NM and have fly fished the San Juan........trip you need experience.........and a number of smaller lakes. Your review of the Chiflo Trail into the Gorge is definitely on our bucket list. I noticed you're wearing either a GPS or PBL......can you share a little more info about that unit ! Great job and tight lines !!! Joe

Hell yeah Joe! Thank you so much! The GPS unit is called a Garmin "Inreach" and it is basically a SOS/Satellite Messenger. For my solo adventures it is extremely important.

@@FLYALLSZN Learn! Yo have the Heart, youth and strength! At 59, I could not hike those paths you take! In addition, you go alone in Bear, Lion and wolf country! May God keep you safe and sharing! Nice work!

@@FLYALLSZN btw I love your channel, I’m a fellow NM fly fisherman and it really inspires me. So here’s a question, what would you recommend for reasonable path to descend into the gorge or Taos area rio grande? I have read tons of info, have all the books but would love your thoughts on it. Thanks

That spey rod is beastly! You could likely land any fish you ever find in the gorge with that thing! Really wanna make it down to NM and film and fish in the Gorge with you sometime. Nice vid man, tough conditions with the wind but still looked fun!
@FLYALLSZN3 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah man! I sure hope it can haha You should! Weather stays pretty nice down here for the most part.

I’ve got plenty switch rods if you really want to tackle trout spey. Nice to see some others in NM going after two handlers. Unfortunately some local shops that claim to be a “resource” had no idea what I was talking about.

Hell yeah! The Spey was a bit big.. But just the concept is SO COOL. I will for sure be back out there with it soon!

Few questions on the spey - how'd you learn to spey cast? What type of line, tip, fly were you using? I picked up a second hand spey recently and had a LOT of trouble figuring out the cast.

Try some of the smaller trout speys, they're awesome. I use my 11' 3wt trout spey alot. Swings streamers well and makes an awesome nymph rod

Great video bro!! You should invest in a trout spey rod though. A lot more fun than that beast of a rod. Redington Dually 4wt, or Claymore 4wt.

I really want one! I know I should invest.. I just don’t use it enough to justify just yet
