Did you also visit Manorbier Castle while in Pembrokeshire?
@matthewjones95655 ай бұрын
I've been there with my children. Really good day out and they're very kid friendly. If you go on a nice day, which are few and far between in South Wales, it's a great day, nice drive down there and the area there is stunning.

I (along with a few others) genuinely saw a ghost here while on holiday in the summer of 1999 as a kid. I'll add my (true) story tomorrow when I'm less tired as it will probably be quite an essay haha.

Okay, so here's my ghost story that although many, many years ago now, I still remember vividly! I visited this place in the summer of 99. It was normal for me to stay at the nearby Saundersfoot every year for a week or two on holiday with my Grandparents and younger brother. Pembrokeshire is an amazing part of Wales and somewhere I've spent a lot of time in the past. So one early afternoon we arrived at Carew Castle. My Grandparents had been a few times before but for myself and my brother, it was the first time. We decided to visit the tidal mill first before paying for admission into the Castle, just to prolong the visit a bit. As we walked along the lake there was a wall we felt was a good place to stop at just to take in some drinks as it was such a warm day. My Grandad whipped out his binoculars and was having a look around the picturesque area. He, and we, noticed a lady in white with extremely dark hair in one of the tower windows, looking in the direction of the lake. We didn't feel there was anything strange about this at all at the time. But my Grandad did comment about it being a good spot once inside to take some photos of the surrounding countryside on what was such a clear and sunny day. Moving on, about an hour later we entered the Castle, only to our utter surprise and shock that there was no floors at all inside in the tower we saw the lady in the window. Absolutely no way of climbing up there either, unless you're Spiderman. Sometime later, a few months or so, I bought a book that was based on haunted Castles within the UK, and Carew Castle was one of the many listed. And it spoke about a lady in white, thought to be Nest, who was a princess, being one of the ghosts that are thought to show themselves from time to time in Carew Castle. From that moment on I became a big believer in the supernatural. We visited again a couple of times over the years but annoyingly I never saw anything, despite wanting to so much! I only wish I was the one with the binoculars at the time so I could have got a much better and closer look at Nest! According to what I've read, she was supposed to be strikingly beautiful.

Sounds a good ghost story, have you mentioned it to Carew Castle themselves or anybody local or societies who may records stories or sightings like these.

I spent four weeks on the excavation team here in the summer of 1994 as part of my degree course. We were digging the area outside the outer walls, where the benches are I think. Good month, but the only things I managed to uncover were a load of cattle bones and a musket ball!

Hi Marcus. How are you doing? Im doing well. Awesome live video tour of Carew Castle. I heard it's haunted by Princess Ness. She died nine hundred years ago. Have a great day. See you next video 😀 Carew Castle is a beautiful and historical place.

My partner never wants to visit a castle again after we visited so many on a trip down west in 2019 😂 We stumbled across Carew Castle on the way from Narberth to Pembroke and it was those big Elizabethan windows that made us pull in to have a look. Did you find the horse?
@flydriveexplore Жыл бұрын
Mrs W is the same, that why she is never with me on my castle trips. Yes, I did find the horse although I didn't get on it, people were watching!

Fantastic! I could watch another 20 minutes on this place. I’ve never thought about it much but how do they limit or mitigate parts of the millstone breaking off into the FLOUR (edited the speech to text misspelling) ? I’m assuming they have some sort of screen? I know I can Google. Anyway thanks for your efforts.
