I think the Flyers are putting a premium on speed and tenacity, hopefully with skill, in forwards. Konecny fits that, Foerster looks like he fits that, Luchanko fits that...

This rebuild seens to be banking on a lot of hoping that some of the young guys develope into something far above their projected ceilings. I'm sorry, but if the plan is to pray that drafting 15th is gonna miraculously get you a top end 1C or top end 1D, then this is exactly what they've already been doing for Groux' entire career. I truly hope I'm wrong

Take a minute to research the top teams in the league and see where their 1C was drafted. Rangers top center was a 3rd round pick (Trocheck). Aho on Carolina was the 35 pick (2nd round), Carolina's Jarvis was 13th overall. Coyle on Boston was a 28th pick. All playoff teams. You need MORE than one player to make a TEAM successful. All that being said, the Flyers are going to try to move Michkov (2nd best player in the draft according to most) to center at some point (hopefully NOW). He should be centering Foerster and Konecny at some point. Finally, the goal is to build a core group. If you have a very good core group, you can add the 1C through trades or free agency if you still don't have one. Especially when you have so much draft capital which should turn into some good, tradeable talent.

All rebuilds count on young guys developing into something above their projected ceilings. Never has a team had 6 #1 picks develop into their top 6 forwards. Doesn't happen. You need several really good draft picks, a few trades, and a few free agent signings to make your top 9. The problem has been with the Flyers is that they've overvalued and overpaid some talent during the Fletcher regime, had some real bad luck with high draft picks (Patrick), and had some crippling injuries that have really hurt them. (Cotourier, Ellis, etc.)
