My brother and I started going from Hwy 26 to the Columbia every summer in old Grumman lake canoes at the age of 14 and 15 until we were 18 and 19… amazing adventure and the best memories! I’m now 67 and headed back to the river this week. What a gift to see your video! I cherish this river and it’s high desert environment.

Tis the season! The unending battle of row versus wade has begun on our local stream! I have subscribed to your channel! Why you may ask? Because you are genuine, your videos are instructional even for an old fart like myself, you arent constantly promoting overpriced products and did I mention...you are genuine! If ya ever get out to western Montana, come on by! We'll treat you so many ways you'll have to like at least some of them!

A lyrical love poem to the mighty”D”…..spectacular cinematography, as usual! Hard to beat when the salmon flies are on….it’s all about the approach!! Nice to see you staying on the bank instead of standing where you should be fishing!!! You fished Trout Creek to Harpham?

@FlyFishDan4 ай бұрын
The bugs are out in force! They will still be flying around in great numbers by the time your trip is here. I used the olive sculpzilla in the morning hours, also a TJ Hooker under an indicator and a purple nymph sometimes under a massive salmon fly pattern during the day. By the afternoon, it was all dry fly with fish eating traditional salmon fly patterns.

Random question which im sure you've answered many,many times but on average do you guys use 3-4x tippet in the northwest? I know 6x is common in crystal clear water and springs like Fall River, and the spring water we have in missouri. Another random ?, have you got separate nymph/wet fly and dry fly setups with one sinking and one floating leader line in the spool for each setup? I really want to up my nymph fishing game this summer, as i generally always have floating leader spooled up. I live in the midwest with mostly bass and bluegill ,catfish etc, with a few trout fisheries 2 hours to the south. But its my dream to move out to the northwest to hike and fly fish every day rather than always having to make a huge trip out of it every year. Thanks for the uploads man, i miss oregon every day. Ive caught one of my biggest rainbows hiking near the Willamette Valley and biggest brown in eastern oregon. Never stop Dan, i love your passion for fly fishing the northwest. Im kind of just rambling on and on trying to pass the time until July, when our next northwest road trip is planned. Send me your blessing ,ill need it

Hey Dan! Im 14 years old, part of competitive fly fishing Alberta. And I want to grow my channel so I thought maybe lake fishing would bring some views. So I was wondering if you have a float tube recommendation?

@@alanfields3356 I appreciate Dan’s recommendations on outstanding products from mostly small family owned businesses.
