I have the tendency to always double haul, seems natural shooting my Skagit head with 4' of T12

I do the same, I have to consciously keep from hauling both directions when conducting a class aimed more towards someone new

Tangles⁉ That NEVER happens😉🙃. For me, with the right line, the roll cast is what I prefer. With an indicator, split shot and three nymphs - false casting is NOT an option 😇. ☮ from North Idaho.

Roll casts are the best!
@marcjalbert413911 сағат бұрын
Prefer a handmade Dorsey Indicator if I'm using a "suspension" device. They land lighter, super sensitive, cheaper, etc. However, for my Colorado waters, I'll stick with eurotrash nymphing (sometimes with a Troutbitten style "mono rig" for larger water and a micro leader otherwise) - I just catch more fish and have lots of flexibility, more sensitivity, more control and I don't have to mess with a "bobber." That said, nice instructional video.

@lincolnprojectnemesis325315 сағат бұрын
Good info. Would like to add that you can effectively water load prior to your fore cast by laying the line on the water behind you as you have demonstrated before on moving water after a drift. I teach this to new casters and even experienced guys that may not have used the technique. Mostly used on lakes and in windy conditions where loadin the rod becomes challenging on the forecast or you struggle with the extra weight of indicators and multiple flies.
@FlyFishDan7 сағат бұрын
Thanks for adding that! I'll have to make a separate video on this, as it's really crucial for a solid presentation.

I just don't understand people that hate the act of fishing completely and come to a fly fishing channel to say it. Why?! What is to be gained? And I don't care what anyone says, an 18" rainbow out in a stream here in WA is a damn submarine of a fish! And as for carrying, I don't blame you after watching some of these vids. You got mf's threatening you and actually shooting at you in one vid! That's wild shit and I'm gonna start keeping a weapon on me when I go out too. You got bigger trolls than middle earth my dude. Just checked online and the dryft zip waders are $600. Patagonia (a premium brand) has their zip waders for $590. These aren’t exactly cheap…
@FlyFishDanКүн бұрын
Their regular price is $799, and it’s currently 30% off. However, I can’t always rely on occasional sales when DRYFT offers its everyday low price. Additionally, I believe Patagonia’s single-layer system is different from DRYFT’s three- and four-layer system. It’s not a direct comparison.

I fish for steelhead all the time, the fall and spring run steelhead. I land my fish on 4lb-6lb fluro leader and I centerpin for them but I will occasionally flyfish for them so heres my advice: don't force the fish. Let it do what it wants. Only try to retrieve line when it ethier swims towards you or stops fighting between bursts. Play with it until you think it'a tired, then play with it some more Nice cast by the way

I also agree paying ridiculous amounts for waders is insane. I bought some Simms that got a leak after about 2 months. Then I bought some cheap Kyle Booker wading pants that I use all the time and I'm amazed at the durability. I also got some Redington Zips that don't have a leak yet. No reason to be paying $1000 for Pataguccis unless you want the drip.

You can cheap out on a lot of things, never do it with waders. I fish 3-6 days a week and review gear for folks, and I will still tell everyone: if you can afford it, do NOT buy anything that isn’t Gore Tex. No “proprietary” junk comes close. Glad the Dryft waders have held up for you, but I’d caution anyone else from not buying local and considering Gore Tex waders(basically Simms and Grundens).
@FlyFishDan5 күн бұрын
Thank you for your feedback! It’s worth pointing out that DRYFT uses a trusted fabric that is breathable, waterproof, and durable-offering the same reliable performance as Gore-Tex, which is essentially a well-known brand name for this type of material. The true test of any fabric’s reliability comes down to time and wear, and from my experience with top-end brands, I can confidently say that DRYFT matches their performance while offering exceptional value at nearly half the price. The difference in cost is related to being direct to consumer vs. retail markups with all other premium brands.
