Flyfishing for Trout on Lake Jocassee

In this video I explore some of the streams that flow into Lake Jocassee and catch a rainbow and brown trout on the fly rod!
I was using a TFO Pro 2 7wt fly rod with a Redington Behemoth reel-spooled with Cortland Flip Pallot fly line. Really love this setup-very versatile! Flies used were tied by me.

Been doing that for years. I fish Jocassee regularly. I love that place. Good video The North Carolina state record rainbow trout was caught on the horsepasture river just below Wendy falls. 36” fish. I think 20 lbs.

Awesome thanks for the video, just moved up last year from FL and look forward to fishing in the upstate. Bought a Gheenoe last week and love fishing salt but going to learn fresh for trout and bass. Jocassee is my 1st adventure once this rain stops👍

Awesome! Gheenoes are cool I'd love to own one some day. I think learning to fish both salt and fresh really broadens your understanding and gives you a big picture of how fish act and live-really helps me in a lot of different situations.

That was the first time I've targeted trout on that specific lake with a fly rod. However I know a lot of guys that do well during the spring!

I've fished lake Moultrie and the Cooper River my whole life and it is nothing like fishing in the mountain lakes upstate. I totally want to visit Lake Jocassee one day. Its only a 4.5 hour drive. I've recently got into fly fishing and it has been on my bucket list. You can catch panfish in the spring while fly fishing but its not nearly as fun as catching big trout which is a species we do not have here.
