This South Carolina area is full of waterfalls, rare plants, and beautiful scenery, named after the valley with multiple free flowing rivers. However, in the late 1960’s it was turned into a massive man-made reservoir. Formed from 4 major tributaries nearby, this is the clearest body of freshwater that exists in North America. Elsewhere, Patrick takes us through the ancient and ritualistic practice of gardening. Whether choose to garden to relax, to create, or to grow, the way we garden is quickly changing. With pollinator populations plummeting, even our individual choices matter when we now decide what to plant.

I LOVE the Jocassee Gorges. I have been hiking all four of those river gorges since 2003. Toxaway River is my fav of the four. Such a beautiful and relatively unknown place. And as I write this it is almost Oconee Bell season :)

i love how this part of the us looks, and how it blends appalachia/piedmont downhill into coastal palmetto/pine forests, cypress swamps and grasslands with florida/ish landscapes, such a gifted state🤗
