part of me hates this, and part likes it. Thing is, the original idea for Reapers was scrapped, originally they really were infinite and have always existed, and had no names as there was no need for it. In the current canon however, Sovereign is just a boastful liar. They have names, and they did not exist and will forever exist, they were created.

@@hosseinjavanmard4544 I believe there was an original plot point involving dark matter and time-fuckery. Something about the Reapers existing outside of time, but the constant use of biotics by living beings causing dark matter to come into existance, rapidly aging the universe, and also aging the Reapers, despite normally not being subjected to time. Or something along the lines, it was a rough draft. Unfortunately we will never know the real truth, as they just decided to go with the boring "Sovreighn was high on himself and lying" route.

@@jefthereaper The primary objective of the Reapers is to contain and reprocess sapient living material. They recognize that it isn't an easy task, and so they employ multiple paths to that end. They "thin the herds" by starting species vs. species wars, internecine wars, and any number of other methods to make the job simpler to accomplish. One method of accomplishing their primary directive is to simply intimidate their adversaries into giving up. If lying about "eternity" and "inevitability" helps cower the organic masses, so much the better. I don't see the problem.

@@I2dios8 Lol, Legion is Nazara Project, hardwired with Reaper tech from Sovereign, Shepard is the Lazarus Project, he's augmented and brought back to life with Reaper tech from Sovereign, EDI also is an AI that is created with Reaper code technology from Sovereign. The Illusive Man is the one that's truly indoctrinated, he believes himself some kind of God while he tries to convince everyone The Reapers are the real threat, he's nothing short but a megalomaniac. His true intentions are to hide the truth, rather than reveal a bigger level of existence, they cannot even imagine it. So yeah, Mass Effect copied the Matrix trilogy, damn it this is so embarrassing.
