Before COVID, this flight from Tijuana to Mexico City (operated by 787-9) was a part of Shanghai-Tijuana-Mexico City, one of the cheapest cross-pacific business classes as well.

I flew their business class product on a long haul from Mexico City to Seoul-Incheon on the 787-8. I agree that the seat itself isn't as nice as the 787-9 that they use to fly to Europe. It feels more like a regional business class product and left me feeling that I needed something more.

I am surprised they are using the 787 for relatively short hauls as opposed to their normal routes to Spain, France and Japan.

They use the Dreamliner for flights to Europe and America, depending on the demand it is sometimes used in domestic flights such as MEX-CUN, MEX-TIJUANA as well as on LAX/JFK routes.

First of all you could always get a COVID test to be sure second of all it’s very safe (depending on airline) and it’s important to see your loved ones especially in times like these.

You're missing out mate. Everyone has different levels of fear/anxiety when it comes to COVID & traveling. My personal experience is that global aviation has really stepped up the game during COVID times & I've never felt safer. From pre-flight tests to sanitization of airports + airlines to people wearing masks/shields on planes, it doesn't feel unsafe at all.

Yea, totally agree. I flew 8 flights this summer, and its like KLM says in their inflight magazine. Airfilters clean 99.9% of all bacteria including covid! So its pretty safe compared to going to school/work

You have a point, but research has indicated that flights are surprisingly safe. It is very important to take precautions in airports and every other public place - test, mask, distance, wash hands, test again.

I don't know about you, but I found Dan's rant about signing up for all sorts of credit card deals to get transferable flight miles incomprehensible. Like why would anyone want an AMEX card? Few reputable companies accept them and, if they do, the fees are outrageous! Moreover, a long and dull journey to Tijuana, all sorts of fees, and then a 22 hour layover with hotel cost soon puts the reported $150 ticket price into a very different bracket? Like, what was the actual total cost Dan?

How can you fly for tourism thes days with so many restrictions. I live in Barcelona and we can't even move from our city the weekends. If you can fly you need special document from your company if it's business or for medical reasons or flying back home. But totally impossible to fly for any other reason. Lucky you that you live in Sweden, in many other countries impossible to do what you are doing. Good luck.

I live about 100 miles from the CBX and when I travel to Mexico I always make the drive cause flights from Tijuana are 50% cheaper or more than flying from LAX. So worth it ! Add to that there are many more flights to Mexican cities fromTIJ compared to LAX

I don’t live in San Diego, but have visited friends there a few times. I have flown from TJ a couple of time using the CBX, including the very route you have done in this video. It’s a very useful hack for those in SoCal. Flights from TJ to destinations across Mexico (and, rather randomly, China) are significantly cheaper than flying from just up the road in San Diego. How did you find it during Covid?

It's funny how in the minute 2:20 mark, Volaris (biggest airline in Mexico in terms of fleet size, but also a lowcost airline) was landing! I fly with them constanly because they have more routes in my city. I wish AeroMéxico had more flights out of Chicago ,if not, I would be flying them more often, but they are limited unfortunately. Great review!
