Im from Uzbekistan myself, and im glad you enjoyed ur experience with the Uzbekistan airline. And yeah in Tashkent, any car can work as a taxi, they are safe, i always get in to any car that stops, tell them ur location and they'll drive you there.

Hi Patrick! Thank you for this in-depth video. I used to live in Tashkent for 2 years, and before I left, I had a chance to try their Bizz product on their TAS-LHR route in July this year. After flying with them for a while, I finally I had enough miles for an upgrade! I think their Bizz product is comparable to premium economy on other airlines. Although I had a nice attendant, I was disappointed with the food - the quality was not good at all and a lame croissant with cheese was given as a pre-landing snack. During the flight I got a bit hungry, I asked if they had anything that was sweet, they only had kiwis as a snack and plenty of fresh orange juice (fyi your second meal is the same meal economy class passengers get, just served differently and with a slightly bigger portion LOL). I would advise them to train their crew to deal with passengers who are non Uzbek/non Russian speaking as clearly on a lot of my flights the approach they use can be taken as quite rude. Secondly, the food in Business seriously needs revamping! I agree that the separate Check-in, immigration and security are great and the lounge is decent enough.

I remember flying with them to Newark about 25 years ago. Back then, they were a standout among the bunch of post-soviet carriers: when everyone, incliding aeroflot, was still flying old noisy smelly deathtraps better known as il-96s and tu-154s, Uzbekistan Airways had shining new Boeing 767s and a route map that covered North America, Europe, and Asia, with tickets as cheap as 1,000 dollars - a princely sum in the former soviet union at the time, admittedly - for a round trip ticket to Newark in business. They had on-board duty free selling popular fragrances and spirits at a significant discount, and serving 2 full hot meals on the flight to Newark via Amsterdam. But there was no individual IFE even in business at that time, and they were showing stupid russian comedies such as Maski Show on the big screens on a loop.

Very detail video and useful as I was curious if it is a good option for NY-Tashkent. I flew to Tashkent via Istanbul this year and in my experience I did not like the separate business lounge in Tashkent. Even worse when you arrive in Tashkent, you are routed to the business lounge and you have to wait for your luggage for ever, and there is no taxi desk like in the main terminal so you leave to be harassed by the rando drivers at the door. I took the Istanbul-Tashkent flight in Uzbekistan air and it was OK, my favorite thing was the security video, very smart way to include a local touch. For what you show in the long haul flight, for the same price I rather fly Turkish with the stopover in Istanbul. Even though you have to walk marathon worthy distances in Istanbul to catch flights, Turkish has one of the best in flight meals in business and superb service. For the same price, I rather fly Turkish.

While I've never flown in Turkish's business class, their economy class is top tier, so it would surprise me that they would be your preference. Interesting experience though!

by what i see is: they try they try (idk how hard) to be at western standards but u can see the culture and URSS influence allover the place & bc of all that combination they end up doing thing better and things bad bad: pressentation of the food but the food is great is like the country guy going to city and trying to blend in ...

Oh yeah, talk about the "high culture" that is to be found and so "presentable" on the streets of Paris, New York, and London!

2-2-2 seating is fine for a daytime flight but for an overnight, not so. Having to climb over an aisle seated passenger to go to the loo is not ideal.

I agree. It’s also not terrible if you know your seatmate. Having an empty seat for the 14 hour flight here was nice for sure
