He will love that he’s the official passenger princess I’ll pass that along to him haha. I thought he did great with the camera angle too

Kaity, I have heard of other pilots using a PIVOT case / system for mounting to the yoke. I enjoyed your flight with your husband, happy Wednesday.

Thank you for the recommendation I’ll look into that. Were they using it on a PC12 or some other kind of airplane?

Noticed your comment on iPhone overheating when mounted in the sun. I fly with an iPad and I have to keep it out of the sun for the same reason. The mounts have become useless because of this issue. Enjoyed this flight with you and your husband. He asks a lot of the same questions I would ask. Appreciate the content! Love the PC12!

I’ve been trying to get a yoke mount set up for the PC12 but the Ram design falls off in flight and/or you can’t get the control lock in with it on so that’s been really frustrating

Colder than -20 my opinion is icing is possible but most likely its ice crystals impacting the leading edge. Kinda like impact snow sticking to the front of the boot.
@pilotkaity2 күн бұрын
That’s interesting. Wouldn’t it have the same effect either way? Or is there a difference in missing?
@richardrickert31382 күн бұрын
My experience and analysis is that super cooled droplets cover most of the boot while impact snow or ice crystals will leave a thin white strip at the very front of the boot which has very little harm to aero dynamics. However when you see ice accumulating on the windshield wiper arm or running up the heated windshield, then that is truly icing conditions.

Nice work. Active/Stand By logic in Garmin land is that the stand by freq is next to the knob, which I think makes sense. Flaps 15 limitation is a nice add. Outside the pro pilot world, I don't think pilots pay enough attention to or adhere to minimum icing speed or configuration. In my little FIKI Mooney, it's 120 KIAS and maximum t/o flaps. I don't typically fly 120+ KIAS approaches, so being aware is being safe.

I feel like ice we should all definitely pay attention to those min speed so it’s good to hear you’re doing that!

Great stuff - thanks for sharing. Do you load your TOLD data into the fms to get revised V speeds like on the jets?
@pilotkaity3 күн бұрын
No we don’t exactly do the same thing but the airplane does calculate speeds for you based of temp and airport elevation etc

This is great! One day I’d like to take my wife on a flight like this. For now, the PA-28 140 will have to do :)

Hi Katy, excellent video. I’m sure you always do this, but maybe just pointing out in the video that in icing conditions shut off the auto pilot and hand fly the airplane.

I can speak more on that topic in my next videos for sure!
