Great video, really enjoyed it and your professionalism. I like that you're calling "gear up" also, lol. One of the main reasons why I want to get my PPL is so I can do these types of flights with my dad. Keep it up, hope you get to fly corporate pretty soon!

You were using Garmin Pilot in the past... did you switch to Foreflight?
@BinaryShad08 жыл бұрын
Do you have experience with any of them? I'm a new student pilot and trying to decide which one is better.
@TherebyAir8 жыл бұрын
It's been years since I used Foreflight. I suspect both will have the same functionality. When I made the switch I found the menus and app navigation to be better in Garmin Pilot. The large icons are easier to use in bright bumpy cockpits. I'm sure you'd be happy with either app though, but decide before investing in ADS-B equipment because that sort of locks you in. They typically aren't cross compatible.

I used to go flying with a buddy of mine who was accumulating cross country time for his commercial license. I don't have a pilot's license but he'd let me do some of the easy stuff. I don't think he ever got his commercial license. He and I both together met a guy who put us both into the computer industry. I don't think we ever made it to Fredricksburg, but we went to Castroville, Victoria, Hondo, Austin and I think we landed in New Braunfels once. He was working at Wright Flyers fueling and washing airplanes.

Awesome video as always josh, thanks for sharing. I recommend not being in the habit of putting landing gear up in a single engine aircraft until you are out of usable runway. Speaking from experience...I had a fuel flow issue in a mooney at about 25 AGL on the takeoff roll, let's just say I was glad my gear wasn't up. Keep up the great work!

I am a fan of your videos, and of your brilliant piloting skills... but not a particular fan of your persona, I have always thought of you as slightly 'cocky' but assumed that it was an act to impress your usual female passengers. I was wrong! even with your Dad in the cockpit...you still babbled at the speed of a turbo charged Uzi! Tone the babble down a bit! There is no doubt about your flying skills...but you could do worse (personality wise) than copy the example your urbane Dad. Oh! and BTW... I love the breakfast...both of 'em!

Ipads--- becoming the ultimate distraction! Looking the inaccurate synthetic vision as you enter the runway...can't you just look outside? I find that is great for an emergency backup. I was taught to announce the type and color of your aircraft at non-towered airports rather than your registration number. For example, "Longmont traffic, red and white Skyhawk taking the active runway two niner, left downwind departure, Longmont." Or, if in the traffic pattern, "Longmont traffic, red and white Skyhawk wings up, left base runway two niner, Longmont." As everyone mentioned before, the other aircraft won't be able to see your registration number. They're more interested in knowing what type you are and where you are in relation to their position.

You need to make a trip to Spokane Wa sometime there is a nice cafe called skyway cafe at Felts Field and then you can vist Seattle and the Museum of flight at Boeing field. After that you can fly to Organ and visit the Tilamook air museum which has a bunch of ww2 aircraft after that you can go to Minnville Organ and see the spruce goose. There is lot's to see in the great pacific northwest.

I hv a question: if I get my private pilot license and ifr rating at my local municipal airport, after that can i go to ATP Flight School and not have to pay for what I already learned and got (licence and ifr)? Thanks!!!
@apackwestbound59467 жыл бұрын
For your ATP license you will need to fly to and demonstrate ATP standards during your checkride. That means being able to control your aircraft through the various required maneuvers to the tolerances specified by the FAA and your pilot examiner. While you do not have to earn your Instrument rating again, you must be able to demonstrate IFR competency to the ATP standard. The ATP license has a time requirement component to it. While preparing for your ATP license you do not need to earn your Private and Commercial (if you have one) license or your instrument rating again. Once you have those (Commercial Pilot License & instrument rating are required for an ATP) license and rating they generally stay yours (unless revoked or surrendered). The skills you develop earning those ratings will have to be built upon, enhanced and refined to pass your ATP license examinations. Some Flight schools and flight training organizations will try and tell you that the name of their school is important and that having trained with them will give you some sort of advantage in getting a job as a pilot. Unless they have a definite agreement with some airline there is no advantage having trained at any specific school. What is important is you learn and understand the material, legitimately log the necessary time to qualify for the checkride, learn the skills and are able to demonstrate to the level required mastery of the skill set required.
