Flying had never been on my radar before, but recently my Uncle passed and left me his Cessna 172 in his will with a letter about conquering ones fears among other things. I have been learning everything about the plane down to the nuts and bolts and am just starting to look into flight-school (fully funded by him as well). I have watched a few of these now and it has me shaking-nervous and kinda terrified-excited...in a good way. Watching these and having a level of familiarity with what I am about to walk into is going to work those nerves out of my system ahead of time and I think it will make the whole experience much smoother. Thank you for the fantastic videos. Fly Safe o7

Yes! What an awesome uncle, and what a wonderful gift (specifically the letter about conquering fears). Cheers to being terrified-excited in a good way! I'm a paraglider pilot and am very familiar with the nexus of fear and excitement. I'm terrified of it, but yet there is something so magical about literally soaring with the birds. I wish you the very best as you face your fears and venture into the skies!

It’s really not as bad as it seems. All the comms follow a certain formula that’s easy to catch onto. Once you learn the formula and learn the phonetic alphabet it’s easy. For the Formula, most of the time you just say: [1.] state whoever it is you’re contacting (if it’s your first contact with them) (i.e. *San Marcus Ground or San Marcus Approach*) [2.] Your tail number / callsign (San Marcus Ground this is *skyhawk 80991*) [3.] State what your intentions or have ATC tell you what they want you to do (*Skyhawk 80991 taxi via Alpha-Charlie-Juliet hold short and wait runway 13.*) [4.] Readback what tower has told you and proceed from there. Edit: Callsign can sometimes be last too.

I am assuming that you were unable to shout loud enough for the pilot to hear you from that distance, I wonder if Helicopter pilots yell out "Open Your Flaps" when they see you approaching - Obviously you would not be able to hear them either. I'm currently in the process of getting my license, I've only completed 2 hours so far. It has been an overwhelming couple of lessons and is great to be able to watch this and see what right looks like. I plan I watching this every few hours in hoping that more and more will be understandable every time. Great to be able to relate and learn off of your videos.

Getting as close to the runway as possible before initiating that flare is the hardest part of flying.

The head cam is way better than fixed ones, feels like you are the pilot and you can see everything without changing cameras. Well done, head cam.

Great video Josh! Hard to believe it was a year ago you took me up on my birthday! Enjoy your spring break!
Ahhhh…….loved this. Takes me back to the 1980’s when I had a PPL (Australia) and flew a Cessna 172. 👍🤗🤩

@27:41 The short final position report. I really like the way you got the landing clearance through a position report, it was professional and courteous. This is something that will definitely be going in my "tool bag". Phoenix, AZ.

So fun to come back and watch the earlier content on this channel. Incredible how you have grown as a film-maker, pilot, and flight safety mentor over the years. Keep up the great work and good luck on your future adventures👍

Such a good video!! The pov view the transition from cockpit auto to headset audio when you put on your headset. The instructional talk. I would hoping to see you touch the clouds but they were about 1,000 feet above as you remained at pattern altitude. Great video outstanding light touch landings. I hope to do these kind of videos soon as I approach my first solo. Would love to fly with you
