Low wings are great until you realize how much harder it is to put people and stuff in them. Way easier to just open the doors and step in from the ground. I had a Piper Cherokee 235 and while it could carry more than its empty weight in useful load getting that amount of stuff into the plane was a super pain in the butt. Now with an even bigger family my only options are low wing twins. Hence the 310. However, I look back on the easier days of having two doors accessible from the floor. Either way, good luck on the TSI build. I will enjoy watching it.

Thank you so much for this amazing video! A bit off-topic, but I wanted to ask: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (mistake turkey blossom warfare blade until bachelor fall squeeze today flee guitar). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

You film and edit the most watchable and warming videos showing aviation at its best. Well done. Once Chels decided on the Tsi you were never going to build anything else! Women have super powers. Looking forward to the build.

Like I said a few episodes ago, It's a no brainer. I believe the high wing looks a bit weird for some reason anyhow.

Congrats on your choice! Look forward to watching you build. How long was your flight time one way from Torrance to BC?

I’ve choice! I like that on low wing the wing gets out of your sight line during the most important parts of a flight. Checking final before departure, maneuvering in the pattern, etc. It’s a really sexy beast too!!

Wing walking to enter a TSi is off the table for my family. You will realize this the first time you want someone mobility restricted to fly with you. It’s why I sold my Twin Comanche and am back in high wing Cessnas (177RG first and now a Turbo 182).

Here’s my take as ATC: I highly doubt that the departure controller would’ve given you a left turn on departure from 31R sufficient to keep you clear of the storms, because that would’ve lead you right into the DFW traffic flow! I don’t think that the mistake here was departing with storms in the vicinity, honestly I think your planning and briefing was great, you weighed your options, considered the evolving met condition and had a plan. The problem is you didn’t let ATC know what your plan actually was. And I bet with you, if you had told clearance delivery from the get go you weren’t planning on flying tex5 to adm, but needed westbound vectors after departure, into DFW, to stay clear of weather, she would’ve told you right then and there: that’s not going to work. What she might have offered is to take you into the south, keep you clear of DFW with a sufficient margin to arriving and departing traffic (mind you, they are in the midst of a runway config change, so there’s going to be a very high workload for ATC already), and keep you going the long way around in the south to the west and finally to the back of the weather system. If you know beforehand that you need something, ESPECIALLY if it’s as safety critical as your departure planning here - you need to let us know AS EARLY and AS CLEAR as possible. Make yourself understood, and we will figure out a way together, otherwise our plans will never coincide and ultimately, you as the person sitting in the plane will be put in a very, very uncomfortable position.

Also, while we’re on the topic of communicating: “I’d appreciate/could we get/whenever it works for you”, this simply does not get across the urgency that the situation you were in required. You were very lucky to have a controller here that was actually quite astute and sensitive to your situation. “Can not accept/severe turbulence, request (immediate)turn/able for maximum x miles on this heading” more suits what you actually needed in my opinion. I’m don’t mean to come across as scolding, I think your ADM is generally great and you are a far, far better pilot than most in GA. Still, these small things are what can get you into life threatening trouble at the end of the day. The Air safety institute channel has a great video titled “misunderstanding in-cockpit weather displays can lead to tragedy”. It’s ten years old already, but absolutely still relevant. I can only imagine, but seeing how violently 80991 was shaking, I suppose you were far to close to what that guy experienced in the video than you would have ever liked.

The longer I watch the video, the more I think “you’re just far too nice”😂 I suppose it’s your Texan manners, and they certain are impeccable! But when ATC asks “can you afford to go ten degrees right (into the weather), after you told him it’s “pretty rough”, and you actually accept that because you wanna help the controller: I (and he) appreciate that, but seriously, when you’re in severe turbulence just barely scratching the edges of heavy precip, we are here to help you, not the other way around! Don’t be scared to be more assertive! Please, ATC doesn’t want to have to go to bed for the rest of their lives thinking “if only I hadn’t pressured him to accept my vector, he would still be alive today…”

Good decision making Josh not to be pressured to hurry through before takeoff checklist and also Not choose the closer end of runway to accept slight tailwind departure. That’s what professional pilots do.
