Not just success.. Mumbai is a slot constraint airport. Thus A380 makes sense coz with one flight you can carry more passengers. Thats why they introduced A380 for a period of 4 montns till Dec 31. Also, Etihad is celebrating 20 years of India - Abu Dhabi flights, so that was also one of the reason.

I have taken Etihad A380 twice (In 2011and in the month of August of 2019) Both times in Economy from Abu Dhabi To JFK (New York). Etihad is one of the best Airlines to fly, especially from Abu Dhabi To JKF. Abu Dhabi airpot has U.S immigration it becomes more easier once you land in JFK, because you have already done your U.S immigration clearance in Abu Dhabi. So once you land in JFK just pick up your suitcase from the baggage belt and walk out from the airpot, instead of waiting in line for hours in the immigration line at JFK.

This is a very Old Plane of Etihad, They Got it at the same time as Emirates but they stopped using it during pandemic. Seems like they have reinstated it. Also Airbus has stopped producing A380s
