We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, eight years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in Chennai, India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. We hope that our travels will inspire and provide our children with the confidence to meet new people, try new foods, and enjoy learning a new language. Nice video..I'm glad you stayed at the Majapahit hotel. this hotel is heritage and historic for the people of Surabaya. In the past during the Japanese colonial era this hotel was called the Yamato hotel. This hotel witnessed the tearing of the blue color on the Dutch flag during the 2nd Dutch aggression to try to control the city of Surabaya again.

Hotel Majapahit was built June 1, 1910 on Jl. Tunjungan 65 Surabaya was purchased by the Lucas Martin Sarkies brothers and was officially opened in 1912. The historical event related to the Majapahit Hotel was the tearing of the blue colour Dutch flag its became the indonesia Flag Red & White which occurred on September 19, 1945

Welcome back BPF (Bags Packed Family) to Indonesia! You guys are going to surabaya, well It's a good city almost like Jakarta but if you want your kids to enjoy some food here's some recommended food/grocery stores! 1. Indomaret Fresh (This is a huge Indomaret where you can get Bread, Doughnuts, Oven-cooked Foods (its really easy for your kids to try!!) and more that you can find! 2. Alfamart (Indomaret's greatest rivarly of Indonesia's stores. It's just all the same with some snacks..) 3. Yomart (An underrated store, same like Indomaret and Alfamart..) 4. Yomart Fresh (This is one of the best! You can find Cheetos and some American/Other Countries Snacks/Products there, I mostly visited in Kota Baru Pahrayangan which is a planned city in Padalarang, I recommend you to rent a house there.)

The most popular route is to Jakarta then go eastward..... see the nature outside Bandung, go to huge temples of Yogyakarta, go to volcano trips of Bromo and Ijen, then finally Bali. If you still have time, you can go further eastward to Lombok and Komodo National Park.
