Time to head back home after having fun with the little ones at the farm. We get to work work on our traffic spotting skills and we had to dive a bit on short final to avoid a flock of small birds.

Not only another great video, but a great example of how you show what family values are all about. People would ask my wife and I how did your two sons turn out so good. ( One is an engineer and a former combat Navy Pilot and the other is a high ranking federal agent in law enforcement with great wives who gave us 6 beautiful grandkids). We would tell people it is not rocket science. You raise them to be courteous, polite, respect others, and work hard in everything you do. Spend a lot of time with them because someday they will be gone off on their own. Looks to me like you are both doing it right with your beautiful kids.

You are right on target Cop Flyer when addressing what it takes to raise children. My wife started our two kids with the ABC's and numbers well prior to pre-school and our continued efforts to promote responsibility paid great dividends now in their careers. Watching this video and how Kevin and Jamie introduce their boys to aviaiton brings back a lot of memories for me flying with my son. Keep the video's coming Kevin, as each one is enlightening and entertaining.

Love the family flight thing. Kids say the darndest things. Handled well. Jaime is not a "totally useless" co-pilot. Her radio skills are exceptional (of course, one would expect that from a controller) and she does know how to help out with other stuff when needed without being told every phase of the flight what is expected. Would love to have a co-pilot with her attributes! Seriously, another great video, keep 'em coming!

What was the longest cross-country in the twin without the heater and how cold was it? My wife and I recently went XC at night in a Cherokee without a heater and it was miserable. Luckily it was only 2.5 en route; any longer and we would've needed a stop for coffee and warmth.

From one Southern guy to another, sorry you had to go through that "cold snap". I spent a winter in Milwaukee in 65-66 and tolerated some of that weather. Never did get used to the temps. The snow was fun up to a certain point but not enough to make me want to stay. What we do to make a living ! My wife has that same sleeping sickness as the boys when she flies. Sometimes doesn't make it much past rotation.

Ha ha...that's funny about your wife. Whenever I'm on an airliner (haven't done since buying this plane) I'm usually asleep by takeoff. Guess that's where he gets it from. I'm glad Jaime usually stays awake and helps with the radios/navigating/looking for traffic but sometimes on longer flights she crawls in the back and goes to sleep as well. :) I'm with you about this cold. Man the things we do to earn a living! One day I'll be back in the warm weather again.

Props for the kiddos, mutual disagreement or not. Props for their parents, who calm things down a couple of words and eye contact. Good on ya. Anyway... one thing that doesn't show up in the videos is traffic, metal or feathered. No gripe here, just a comment. Wide angle action cam lenses just don't support that level of detail. I am curious what style headsets you both use and how you like them. I note the Lightspeed your are wearing, Kevin. Not sure what Jaime is wearing. I am in the market for an upgraded headset. I currently use the In-Ear Clarity Aloft which I love but need a few more headsets for the RG182 I own. So would appreciate your opinions. Thanks in advance!

Mike, I'm using the LightSpeed Zulu 2's and Jaime is using the Quiet Technology Halo's. I really like mine but may try out some like hers one of these days. She loves hers. They don't clamp on her head, mess with earrings, etc. Congrats on owning a 182RG...those are really nice planes!!

Hi Kevin and Jamie ! You two are so easy to watch. A pleasant break in my day. The way you are with your boys is a great example for everyone. Just as Cop Flyer said, people tell me all the time how nice my daughter always is. A loving environment and teaching respect by example, is there any other way ? Obviously, I don't know you personally, but you and Jamie seem to be the genuine deal. That is SO refreshing to see. Very eventful for such a short flight....and that flock of birds. No surprise, you handled like a pro !

Thank you for the nice compliments John! There's no show for the cameras...we just turn them on and act normal then I try to edit them for brevity...try to stay in the 20-30 min range. Hey Kev, another awesome video buddy! Let me say I so agree with Cop Flyer’s comment and it is so refreshing seeing mom and dad include the kids in your outings! There just isn’t enough of that these days in what I term “the out of control generation” unfortunately and it isn’t all the kids fault because it starts at home with mom and dad and obviously if that isn’t there the kids are on their own and end up teaching themselves and that hardly ever turns out to be a very successful endeavor. Please let me add, I would give anything to have my 3 back to the ages of your kids because before you know it they’re dropping grandkids in your lap which is an awesome thing but my point is, before you know it they’re off building their own families. So enjoy and experience your young ones as much as you can because in the blink of an eye it’s over and we as parents are left sitting there wondering where the heck the time went!!! 🤔

I died laughing, " Do you mind getting hit in the face?" That was GREAT! 🤣😂🤣 Got another shoutout! You guys are getting BIG TIME famous now! 😉 Beautiful day to be out flying. Severe clear! Got to love that! Haven't had many of those days around the Northeast lately. Although today was a heat wave - got up to 43°! I would've went swimming if there wasn't 3' of ice on my brother's pool ... 😁 Amazing how the 40's feel warm after sub-zero and single digit highs. Now we get a mud fest again - supposed to be 60° Tuesday! Roller-coaster winter over here in MA. Nice job spotting those birds! I often wonder how good I'd be at spotting things like that, since my eyesight is terrible. I barely pass the DOT physical for my CDL every year ( I keep it "just in case" - haven't drove in over 10 years) - always struggle reading the chart. I'm too stubborn to get glasses, since my vision has been the same since I was about 9 or so years old. Love watching the ground whiz by, even at elevation. That thing really moves, especially in a tail wind! Always enjoy watching, especially since you guys are an example every parent, or person in general, should strive to be. You're my kind of people! Thanks Kevin & Jamie! 🍻

Great flight guys. Birds are so dangerous, we have to contend with Ibis (which are big) at our field, had to reject my takeoff on a flight last November as I rotated we thought we hit one as they blind sided us from the right, luckily no hit but maybe ruffled the feathers as we found a few when taxiing around the grass verge. Hope that arctic blast didn't hit you too bad , cheers from Aussie.

@310Pilot 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Paul...glad you enjoyed it! They are dangerous and we get a lot of migratory birds here in the upper midwest. The big flocks of geese are usually easy to see....these were small birds and I didn't pick them up till close to them. Wish the cameras would have shown them. I had to look up Ibis...those wouldn't be fun to hit either. Glad you missed that one on takeoff. That for sure would have done some damage. Good news is the -50F wind chills are over and it's suppose to be 50F in the next couple days. Can't wait for spring up here!!
