Wow, to be able to go back in time about 100 years, to see and hear and ride in a piece of aviation history must have made for a very cool day. These big planes were the first attempts made at long distance, commercial travel, in the air. The coming of the second world war and the need to haul munitions and equipment as far as possible is what pulled aviation technology into the modern age and made overseas flights a regular part of life.. But in it's day this was one of the best aircraft mankind came up with and these handsome planes ruled the skies.

I got a flight in a Ford Tri-Motor at the airport in Palm Springs. My seat was the front-most on the right, ahead of the right engine so had pretty good visibility. Here;s a video of that flight. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnrYlWecgKurnMU
