In this weeks episode we are finally flying our abandoned dream airplane for the first time in 15 years! Before heading back to our home airport we finish up the last few things that needed to be done before this plane could become airborne again such as an oil change, filter change, and screwing the cowlings back on, and then its up into the pattern to make sure everything is running smoothly. After doing the initIal tests we hop back in and get ready for the flight back home to our hangar will it make it all the way? Watch and find out!

From driving an old dump truck through the mountains on a long journey home, to flying in your own plane after it sitting 15 plus years is quite the accomplishment. It does take a team to have the will and knowhow. But it does start with you Jason. Your journey started many years ago to be able to be where you are today. It shows in the people who surround you. Great job!

A friend just told me about you guys. I used to fly out of KMQS with the Civil Air Patrol until about 6 years ago when I lost my medical. In 2011 I lost my left leg due to complications after knee replacement. I did pass a SODA flight test with an FAA guy with hopes of resuming flying with the CAP. Unfortunately, Type 2 set in followed by a cardiac condition.

Very cool boss! I have only read about an inadvertent icing in the Sierras. The TB brought him home safe. The pilot was scraping ice off the wing through the vent window. He did a no flaps landing at 10 to 20 knots faster. He got his sweet girl home. I have only flown one on a Sim. Cool fast plane. I flew an arrow which is just complex 200 hp. But I had a great Air Force Retired Major Eagle Pilot as my Primary CFII. I am AF Retired Cmbt Comm. He started his AF career in Cmbt Comm enlisted. Blessed to fly with the best.

Jason, Great to see the TB-20 in the air! Love your channel. I can't believe you are at Brandywine Airport. I grew up in West Chester and my father owned an Aeronca Champ and Cessna 172 there back when it was a grass strip with a bend at the end of the runway! Spent a lot of time at that airport. Its amazing Jason goes all out on somethings on the plane to get it all certified to be flyable again but after cleaning did not thourouly clean the cowls (inside as well) and the bird smell inside the interior brings back memories of all the bird nest materials that was taken out. Also Demetri holding on to the cockpit door brings back memory of that vice grips again thinking that would have been one of the easier fix with the struts.

over 30 years ago I went to a flight school to look into learning to fly a small plane. I lived within rock throwing distance from a small airport. I was just busy all the time and didn't follow through. I regret that. Maybe it's not too late. I'd like to learn to fly.

I learned back in the early 80s... Got my instrument at 200 hours which, back then was the minimal time one had to have to take the instrument test. Logged over 2000 hours in less than 20 years. Haven't flown since 2000...just got too expensive. But with every post, Rebuild Rescue is fueling the desire in me to go to the local FBO and see if it is "like riding a bicycle". Pretty sure that is the case. Just haven't justified the $200 to make the point.

Almost sounds relatable. I started off with a discovery flight my sister got for me. Next thing you know I've passed my physical & was sitting in a private pilot ground school class. Got through that & received a sign-off, went down & took my test, passed, & received my certificate, then let it all go to waste, as I was never able to buy a single hour & go up. 😪
@Recklessness97
@Recklessness97 Жыл бұрын
@@Cory14Tina02 Sounds like me but I haven't taken private pilot instruction yet. I would love to fly and I have the money to get through initial flight school for my private pilot license but I see no point in it because I'm not able to afford an air plane, maintenance, gas, and a hanger to store it so It just doesn't make sense for me to get my license and renting is expensive too. Maybe one day.

I'm so jealous. I've always wanted a TB20; when I still owned a third share of a Socata Rallye, our A&P, who specialises in French aircraft, said the TB20 (not the 21, which is turbocharged with all the hassle that goes along) were among the most underrated planes. Also, one of the coolest registrations in Germany, D-EEEE ("Delta Echo Triple Echo") is a TB20, which was for sale for a couple of years. It's flying again, I've recently heard it on the radio. But still, owning one isn't for me at this point, I'm happy just to fly in a club as a weekend warrior for the time being. But so happy for you!
