Today I took a quick flight over Coachella to take some aerial photos of our banners in tow. Also we learn about how a banner is set up for tow and have some fun with the ground support crew.

I have been struggling to figure out what i want to make a career of, until i came across your 'How To Become An Aircraft Mechanic' video. Thanks to that video (and your whole channel), I will soon be enrolling in the course to earn my A&P, and put my mechanical inclination to good use. James, you have truly made an impact on my life, and for the first time in my life, I am excited about my future. Keep up the great work! And thank you sincerely.

I know this is old, but did you ever get your a&p? My first day of class starts in 6 days.
@DeathMountainDragonaut3 жыл бұрын
@@kx7zz I never pursued it; I enrolled in a Residential Electrical Course instead, and began an entirely new job just before I could finish and become an apprentice. Damn, I didn't realize how long it has been since all that until your response... This channel has some great content, and it did inspire me at one point, though my priorities have changed. But I am really happy for you; for taking this step toward an awesome goal and career. Many blessings to you!

@@DeathMountainDragonautout of curiosity… may I ask why you pursued becoming an electrician over an A&P mechanic?

I was the fastest KingAir cleaner I ever heard of back in 1986 at 16 years old before internet sharing was invented. I don't think your even allowed to hire someone that young anymore. By 17 I was chief lineman at the airport. Now at almost 50, and a lot of wasted time working in the construction industry, I'm going for my A&P threw minimum OTJ time to take the test. Three years from this coming Wednesday, I hope to be taking the test.

And congrads to Vince. It don't matter that he's younger than most of his subordinates. It's part of their job to help Vince out if he missed something they know from their own experience. Unless their assholes.

Do you think being an aircraft mechanic makes you a better pilot since you understand more of the systems?
@JamesSullivans7 жыл бұрын
It certainly doesnt hurt. I think all pilots should be as familiar as they can with the systems on the aircraft they operate. It really helps with decision making when failures occur.

Also I love how the prop makes waves across the windscreen just after takeoff around 3:50 & 4:35 4:51 "fun"? what else could that mumble be? That was dad joke worthy James...no monkeying around with this plane? grow up Love the song you picked for the flight Nice banana 10:14 go ahead and slam a carbon footprint on this runway real quick says the pilot Great video James, hope to see more from your new camera with less clicking and that dank humanoid focus

I was hoping you would make this vid and it was awesome !!! Surprised at the the number of hand tied knots that were used but it obviously works. edit: and thanks for it together, well done !

Glad you enjoyed! Hope the camera clicking noise wasnt too obnoxious
@msnpassjan20047 жыл бұрын
You mean around 5:10? Silly me I thought it was somebody working in the background .... not bad but because all the natural outdoor noise but it would be annoying in a quiet environment like explaining something inside an airplane. May I recommend a mic muff for the wind.... otherwise excellent video quality, and enough detail to catch the tow rope !
@JamesSullivans7 жыл бұрын
I used a mic muff on this video. That's prolly as good as it's getting unless I get an external mic but this camera doesn't allow for it. I could always try a lavaliere mic but seems like a hassle. Glad the quality difference was recognizable.

Very cool video. Never knew how the banners are picked up. How come you did not get to fly back to compton.

Good question! No back seat in the planes that were scheduled to fly back. Most are staying out for this weekend.

Thats some skillful banner pick up going on there,in the UK we used larger poles than what you have there,so what snatches the banner ? is there a kind of grappling hook for the pick up its not very clear ?

Where did you come up with that King Air belonging to Google? This plane belongs to the owner of a Ford dealership out of Visalia, CA. Last name begins with a G.
@JamesSullivans7 жыл бұрын
Did you see the tail? It's Google's logo
@DavidBrown-dv9rt7 жыл бұрын
It looks similar but it's not Google. It belongs to Groppetti Automotive. The last two of the tail are DG - the owner being Don Groppetti. It's real easy to research a tail number ;)
@DavidBrown-dv9rt7 жыл бұрын
Jim Hal Yep. Not Google's.
@JamesSullivans7 жыл бұрын
Nice catch - I just looked up the n number and you got it. Pretty convincing "g" though. I'm sure google has some way more badass jets but i know they have a couple of king air's too
@DavidBrown-dv9rt7 жыл бұрын
James Sullivan Yeah dude! When you said it was Google's I believed it and then looked up the plane to see if I could see what it was used for then that's when I found out it wasn't Google's. Very convincing "g"! Keep up the good work man!
