Greetings from Greece, Chris. We use a somewhat different approach in my company for walk in defrost control. The kind of controllers that we use are most of the time the kind with two temperature probes, one for space temperature, and one for coil temperature. We programm a number x for defrosts per day, for y minutes, up to z degrees in coil temperature. I think it's simpler, yet not much less energy efficient, and you don't have to install the controller inside the walk in, but only the probes.

I used to work in Everett Washington, Seagulls loved nesting on the roofs. I was not allowed to mess with them. They are *very* protective of there eggs and young. The Seagulls dive bomb you, yes they actual fly around then swoop down flapping wings at your head and then they deliberately poop as they dive down at you. I had to use old filters to shield myself like Captain America when working on the roofs during nesting season :)

For future reference, you can clean off bird boo-doo with the following mixture. 1 part Palmolive 1 part Baking soda 5 parts water This is a pre-soak. If the mess is REALLY bad and smells HORRIBLE, replace the water with 3% hydrogen Peroxide. This *shouldn't* damage anything, but it will shred apart any organic waste material and dead things you come across with shocking efficiency. The significant acts as a de greaser. It IS important if you use this, you hit it with a specialized rinse before applying the wash. 2 parts Palmolive 1 part Lysol Concentrate 5 parts Water This is the actual wash. The pre-soak cleans very well, but is mainly meant to cut off major gunk, and this actually cleans what's underneathe it. The lyson disinfects. Rinse with water. Your coil cleaner does the job, but this stuff will handle virtually any organic material you throw at it. Shit, this will actually eliminate Skunk spray.

I have to admit, I can see the newer technology on larger tonnage RTU’s maybe 20 ton up, but the smaller equipment is a financial disaster for the equipment owner at breakdown. Like in your video, maybe it’s a 15 ton Trane with that ECM condenser fan motor failure. The driver fails and that it. Like this one, Trane had 0 in stock! Warranty system in a medical building, summer time, with the space at 80 degrees. Picked up a standard 1075 460v motor with capacitor and had it operating in 2 hours. Took a month for the factory to get me a replacement! Left the temporary motor in the unit since there are 6 others on the same roof. So much for simplicity! Great video’s

Went to the air handler for the maternity ward to change the bag filters and found those nasty birds had made straw nests inside of it! Shoveled out 4 30 gallon trash cans of that crap including dead birds and eggs! Pressure cleaned it using the green calgon coil cleaner! Put mechanics wire over the air intake with self tapping screws to stop this! We got a contract to do all the pm for the hospital as a result of this nasty find! There is alot more than just straight HVAC work you have to deal with to do your job Chris!

@14:52 it was at this point that the peace between humans and pigeons ended. Now, EVERY MORNING the service van was covered in pigeon poop, even when parked in the clear, there was pigeon poop EVERYWHERE.

I know pigeons are the "rats" of the sky but they're here and so close because of our ancestors. They used them for messaging and they used to be real close to us like dogs. Once Morse code and the telegram settled in we threw pigeons to the curb and they've been here like this since. It's a funky situation but even Nikola Tesla felt bad and took care of some there at the end of his life.
