I really do hope they find a way to do away with the smoke deflectors and repaint her LNER green, I know the NRM has a policy of maintaining locos in as close to historical condition as possible but god darn it I really want to see the engine the way she was from mid 60s onwards, she looked stunning 80's really want to see her back in that state, or at the very least how she looked initially back in 1999 at the conclusion of that overhaul-if they have to keep the double chimney.

The NRM actually has a digital HD scan of Sir Nigel Gresley’s original drawings for the A1 design

Can I just give you guys a round of applause? It must of been such hard work restoring this beast back into working order, you guys tried your hardest to bring back this amazing legend and you smashed it. Well done!

I have to be honest with you mate, the train didn't need much restoring as it has been kept in great shape ever since world war 2 however apparently one of the wheels fell of at one point?

I kinda like the Brunswick Green. If they're going to keep the double chimney and smoke deflectors they might as well keep it in a livery that's historically accurate to that running condition.

Sir William McAlpine made some changes to Flying Scotsman in 1973, after her return from America she was sent with the two tenders to Derby, where she received her number 4472 on the cab sides, a black nameplate, and the tender with LNER, and the second tender having BR Corporate Blue. He eventually sold the tender to Bittern, the engine that has it as its second tender.

the idea of a railway musium is great to be able to visit & be able to see these fantastic engines, but more importantly they should be out more often all over the uk, doing what they were built to do, & when any require new boiler,s or any other work, they should be given new boiler,s or what-ever else, to keep them running, the mallard & the union of south africa, two of the fastest steam engines there is , are sitting in musiums, needing new boiler,s, which is a disgrace that they are not given new boiler,s, there should be no questins asked when a new boiler needs to be fitted, & there should already be new boiler,s sitting waiting for when they are required, & the more a steam train is to be used, there would be a need for huge amounts of coal, so that would keep people in work mining coal, & opening mine,s up where there is plenty of coal, but the country is obcessed with listening to the do-good brigade enviromentalists, that are obcessed with renewable energy, electric trains, car,s, wind turbines & all that crap.

@jordanorriss68896 жыл бұрын
Ketching The kipper I don't blame you for liking English railways more than US. We invented the steam engine and the American ones show all the pipe work which doesn't make it look very nice either. :) So I do agree with you. English is better.
@brandonkeller15026 жыл бұрын
Jordan Orriss yeah and the American steam engines almost always have that same design choice like the rail companies were coping each other to cut costs. By the way I live in America is that wrong.

do they use a crane to lift it in order to rotate the wheels to mount the side rods? also how do the wheels get out of sync in the first place.. always wondered lolol
@FutureRailProductions4 жыл бұрын
No. At least that's how we not do things here in the states. There's a way that we do it and it's called a sliding adjustment. You put a metal rod through the wheel casting spokes and then through the frame and then you grease the rail. You hook another engine up on the front and drag the locomotive forward until the wheel that you're working on matches up with the rod pieces that are on the other wheels. When they restored Sierra Railway number three about 10 years ago now that's how they got the driving rods back onto the wheels. They pulled the locomotive forward so the leading driver would be in a line, attached the rod that connects it to the crosshead, froze that wheel by placing the bar through the wheel and then into the frame, then dragged the locomotive forward to line up the next driver and then repeated the process for the last driver. Kind of a backwards way to do it but it works.
@hornbytrainsets4 жыл бұрын
@@FutureRailProductions interesting!! But wouldn't the loco be in the workshop at the time they're mounting the side rods? And if so, why would they take it out and go through that process to line up the crank pins rather than just do it with the loco in the air in the shop?
