Always loved the steam locomotives… brings back my childhood memories in India in 70’s and 80’s where me and my brother holding my father’s hand on each side watching these gentle giants roar at the station . Thanks to the British for their efforts in establishing the railways in my home country.

What a beautiful looking locomotive ? But the whistles crap? Just needs a 4 dominion of new Zealand chime whistle ? To suit the locomotive.?
@iandocwra11692 жыл бұрын
I can only imagine 60103 was being pushed greatly as there was no visible or audible effort when it finally got underway. The helicopter also drowned out any possible steam audio as the train receded. It looked as though the crew just let the brake off and (metaphorically) sat back. Captures the crowds well though.

The Flying Scotsman's whistle is terrible. Is it the original?
@T.L.G_studiosАй бұрын
Yes. I believe it is. That’s why preservationists and train enthusiasts won’t let it be changed. Because it’s the original. Or at least sounds like the original.

Well it is a name train (as well as being the name for the engine) so they kinda have too.

@@T.L.G_studios Already has it's name on the side - didn't need this.
@T.L.G_studiosАй бұрын
@ no cuz the name of the engine is on the side of it. The blue plate is the name of the train that the engine is pulling. The engine was named after said train.
@1977ajaxАй бұрын
@@T.L.G_studios You just told us that, _just as I said,_ the name of the engine is on the side! Naming the train (if that what the blue thing is even doing) is unnecessary.
@T.L.G_studiosАй бұрын
@ your not getting it. The train ( the east coast main line, London to Edinburgh service) was already called the flying Scotsman years before the engine was built. The engine was also named the flying Scotsman, after the train that it pulled. So both the engine and the train are called the flying Scotsman. However the flying Scotsman engine doesn’t only pull the flying Scotsman train, it pulls many other trains too. Hence why they have to use the second blue sign to designate that the flying Scotsman is now pulling the flying Scotsman train and not some other train. If people only saw the engines name plaque then they might not know if it was pulling the flying Scotsman train or another train. So they have to put the blue plaque on as well so people know that it’s pulling its namesake train.
