When I was a child around 8 years old in 1965 in Canada, I received a clockwork train for Christmas. This included a 4 wheeled locomotive painted in Royal Green with black details and yellow pinstriping. It was made completely of painted sheet steel. Very beautiful, as I recall. And it had a large clockwork key. Also a set of track about 1-1/2 inches wide, as I recall. And two coaches, painted green, yellow and black. My sister and I had so much fun with this trainset, giving Barbie and GI-Joe rides on the train. And creating imaginary worlds with plastic cows, pigs and horses at the side of the track :-)

Alright, not to put a fine point on it, but in the overhead shots (8:00 - 9:00) where the pub is in view, out back it appears a chap when off for a relief but passed out on his face. Every time I see it I want the bloke put upright. Anyway, another fine video. Great idea mixing in the train museum. G.B. owns train history. And rules with still working steam. Thanks for sharing...

That photo is pretty cool, its from the A4 reunion, notice the 6 A4s, 2 (dominion of Canada and Dwight D. Eisenhower) are in north america and the other 3 run on the mainline (Bittern, Union of South Africa, and Sir Nigel Gresley), which is something that is never going to happen again. So nice to see them all together, but only Mallard really resides in the museum. Really wish they would run it!

The National Railway Museum really is impressive. I loved it the last time I went there, and I love the collection you had running in this video. I'd say the Star Class is probably my favourite of them all. However, I think Lode Star was actually the 4th of her class. No. 4000 North Star actually takes credit for being the first, or at least I think so. Anyway, fantastic video, Sam. Keep it up!

Nice vid Sam By the way City of Birmingham has been preserved in the Museum of Science and Industry in Birmingham, but in her final condition without the streamlining. In BR blue if I recall.(Not been there for a few years mind) Fav for me was the Deltic, took me back to my trainspotting days on the ECL at Hadleigh Wood in North London in the late 70's when they were still in service. Idea - A Bluebell Railway session. A great excuse to run Terriers, Adams Radials, the Dukedog, etc!! Jon

Call me crazy but I'm thinking of pre-ordering the new streamlined coronation in blue from Hattons, £152 I think it was... Also those coaches are 2's, not 1's. 1's for steam era, 2's for late steam early diesels, 3's for HST and late diesels.

I love the National Railway Museum, one of my favourite places in the country. Definitely saw a lot of locomotives, definitely a lot more than I have ever seen in my life. There is another LMS Crab in the LMS livery, no. 13065 at the East Lancashire Railway near Manchester and the City Of Birmingham is preserved at a Science Museum in Birmingham somewhere. However, my favourite locomotive is GWR City Class, 3440 City Of Truro. The Rocket Replica was built in 1970 or something.

What you may find as well is that a narrow gauge loco was the last steam loco ever built and was for Indonesian sugar plantations if I can remember right

A great choice of models! Big fan of the Star, despite it not being in GWR. Numerous BR 9F Preserved. Which one did you drive? Another well known one is 92202 I think. It's Crewe heritage centres one called "Black Prince" Don't know who you buy them all?! A nice to one have run would have been a Class 52 "Western".

These locomotives are certainly some of the finest, absolutely beautiful. However there is something I’d like to about when you mentioned Stephenson’s rocket, (I assume you may already know) but in case you didn’t, They are now moving it to the NRM.

10:13 Ironically, according to Chris-Eden Green, there's 9 9F's in preservation, go figure! 12:14 I believe the Crab 13000 is the first of the class, I think that follows with the Midland Railway Practice of engines' classes being named after the number, sort of like how the GWR Castles are the 4073 class. Same for D8000, according to Wikipedia. Hope this helps. My favorite has to be the GWR Railcar or the Q1, with Flying Scotsman a close second. Speaking on the Railcar, I'd love to see you run it more. I've seen photos of a modified Railcar that had it's rear cab removed and hauled coaches. I think it'd look quite smart pulling GWR chocolate and cream coaches, and it'd be great to see it here, if you want of course. (But please don't try removing a cab! XD) Also, I've got a few video ideas like this. How about engines on the Bluebell Railway, including engines that were at the Bluebell Railway--so you could include the Q1 again--, maybe run a Bullied Unrebuilt Pacific, the P class, a Terrier, etc. Also, how about a running session with double headers of steam locomotives and their replacements, such as: An A4, or Flying Scotsman, with a Deltic, a Castle or 9F with a BR Class 35 Hymek/BR Class 52, a GWR Pannier with a BR Class 08 shunter, etc. Hope you like the ideas Sam, feel free to use or not use. :)

One last thing I forgot to mention: I wish the USA's NRM would restore steam locomotives, as they don't run anything that I know of. In fact, they tried to keep a locomotive, Milwaukee Road 261, from running due to a legal fight over who owned it! (The Friends of 261 won out thank goodness). I wish I could suggest you buy a model of 261, but they're SUPER expensive, the cheapest goes for nearly $350!! If you do see one for cheap, I think it might be cool to see on the railway. Cheers Sam!

19:52 Nice Toy Story bin at the left! All jokes aside, it was a great running session and I have to say the Crab and “Duchess of Hamilton” were my favourites. I’d love to see some more NRM locos in the future. - Red 🚂 Edit: Is that the correct spelling of Crab? I wasn’t sure if it was Crabbe or Crab.

Hello again Sam, I must say, what a wonderful running session of NRM Locomotives, well a few models of the preserved locomotives at the NRM. My favourite locomotive in the National Collection as you know, is The Flying Scotsman. I'm a bit puzzled, I thought you have the new Hornby A4 Mallard as you're running the Wren version of Mallard, it's not very well detailed and her wheels are not covered, please forgive me, if I'm being a bit rude. But still that is a wonderful NRM running session my friend. I'm been visiting the National Railway Museum in York many times before. 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 10/10 2 thumbs up. 👍👍 Kind regards Jordan Shingler 😉 Oh and how about doing a running session of steam locomotives that have been preserved including at the NRM. I'll email you a list of preserved steam locomotives in model form that you got.
