When I was a child around 8 years old in 1965 in Canada, I received a clockwork train for Christmas. This included a 4 wheeled locomotive painted in Royal Green with black details and yellow pinstriping. It was made completely of painted sheet steel. Very beautiful, as I recall. And it had a large clockwork key. Also a set of track about 1-1/2 inches wide, as I recall. And two coaches, painted green, yellow and black. My sister and I had so much fun with this trainset, giving Barbie and GI-Joe rides on the train. And creating imaginary worlds with plastic cows, pigs and horses at the side of the track :-)

Alright, not to put a fine point on it, but in the overhead shots (<a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="480">8:00</a> - <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="540">9:00</a>) where the pub is in view, out back it appears a chap when off for a relief but passed out on his face. Every time I see it I want the bloke put upright. Anyway, another fine video. Great idea mixing in the train museum. G.B. owns train history. And rules with still working steam. Thanks for sharing...

That photo is pretty cool, its from the A4 reunion, notice the 6 A4s, 2 (dominion of Canada and Dwight D. Eisenhower) are in north america and the other 3 run on the mainline (Bittern, Union of South Africa, and Sir Nigel Gresley), which is something that is never going to happen again. So nice to see them all together, but only Mallard really resides in the museum. Really wish they would run it!

Nice vid Sam By the way City of Birmingham has been preserved in the Museum of Science and Industry in Birmingham, but in her final condition without the streamlining. In BR blue if I recall.(Not been there for a few years mind) Fav for me was the Deltic, took me back to my trainspotting days on the ECL at Hadleigh Wood in North London in the late 70's when they were still in service. Idea - A Bluebell Railway session. A great excuse to run Terriers, Adams Radials, the Dukedog, etc!! Jon

There is another LMS Crab in the LMS livery, no. 13065 at the East Lancashire Railway near Manchester and the City Of Birmingham is preserved at a Science Museum in Birmingham somewhere. However, my favourite locomotive is GWR City Class, 3440 City Of Truro. The Rocket Replica was built in 1970 or something.

These locomotives are certainly some of the finest, absolutely beautiful. However there is something I’d like to about when you mentioned Stephenson’s rocket, (I assume you may already know) but in case you didn’t, They are now moving it to the NRM.
