N7640U operated by Ryan International Airlines on behalf of Emery. I used to work on this beautiful lady out of DEN. I understand we're just simming here, but keep in mind, she was never RVSM certified, so as with most of these grand old ladies, 27,000 is as high as she was allowed to go. (Real world) BTW, you're correct, because of so much drag / noise, most old 727's had a mechanical block preventing flaps 40.

I started my career in aviation working as a rampie in YYC on Emery(Ryan's) 727 including N7640U. Pilots were great folks, smoking cigarettes on the taxi in. Great memories. The FL270 you mention had nothing to do with ETOPS (two engine) rather then RVSM.
@jetfixer32072 ай бұрын
@@shanewalker5015 You're correct. RVSM. Unfortunately (as I did in this case) I sometimes get the terms RVSM & ETOPS reversed. (I corrected my earlier post) To go above FL270 would have required a very costly upgrade of the 72's avionics. That combined with being an older, thirsty, noisy bird meant the costly RVSM upgrade just wasn't worth the investment. Kind of a shame too, I still have friends who flew the Ryan 727s. (I spoke to one this evening) Despite the Emery birds being horribly underpowered, they could cruise (if light enough) at 42,000 feet traveling Mach .9 By modern commercial jet standards, that's both very high and VERY fast. While working as an A&P for Ryan International at the DEN station, I worked on both the analog Boeing 727, and the (at the time) cutting edge digital Airbus A320. VERY different.

the interesting thing about the 727 generators - it's the same way how power plants synchronize to the grid. the blinking lights and dial are called a synchroscope.

You are a great ambassador for this addon! RNAV airliner flying isn’t my style but this looks great. Just a small recommendation, when reading back chat messages it would be helpful to read back the question as well, makes the VODs easier to watch. Thanks for everything, subbed

@@197jm that’s very kind of you thanks a lot! And ah yes good idea for reading the questions back. You can click live chat instead of “comments” and see the chat happening in real time as it did during the live. But then of course you sacrifice full screen. But I will try to read more of then out! Cheers

As a DC9/MD80/B727 typed pilot, if you ever wanted to do a live Q&A type of stream, I’d be happy to join in on voice to provide insights or answers to any questions regarding these aircraft. Hit me up if you ever wanna offer that up to your subscribers 👍🏼

Nice! The external model looks great, however the cockpit simply looks weird. Maybe it's the attitude indicator that is not the one fitted on real 727😢
