@shadowblade145 It's the Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System : it incorporates a visor-projected Head-Up Display (HUD) to cue weapons and sensors to the target. it allows the pilot to simply look at a target to shoot

You first have to be a Naval officer. There are 3 ways to do this. Graduate from the Naval Academy, do Naval ROTC at any associated university, or after you graduate go through OCS. You can look all of them up. You then get to put down your preference on what you want to do. If you have the qualification AND they Navy has the need, you can get selected for pilot training. If you pass all the courses and test you will get your wings, and get to choose plane preference based on your performance

So bloody beautiful. Masterful engineering. These are the types of things that should be shown to young boys to encourage them to learn maths, physics, etc.

I wanted to be a fighter pilot when I was a kid, it wasn't until I got older that I realized how hard it is to be one. You have to be perfect in every area and a bit lucky. The average person's chance of becoming a fighter pilot are about equivalent to playing on a professional sports team.

once all the maintenance kinks and tests are completed on both the f-35 and f-22 models expenses and trouble will work their way down, both are amazing aircraft so lets try to appreciate their capabilities and what they contribute to the us military

yes definitely both the osprey and globemaster are excellent supply aircraft, but the reason why canada wants aircraft like the F-35 is because they can provide ground AND air support in offensives, and if you are going to move in troops via air with those two aircraft, you MUST have air dominance as well as having a tally on all SAM sites, and the F-35, unlike the F-18, is specifically designed for both purposes, with special avionics that identify SAM sites no problem and display them on HUDs.

I think the F18F and F14D together would be one of the best couples in the U.S. Navy, as seen in the JollyRogers and many other squads

All right all right... slight typo. But the Osprey is more indicative to what Canada needs. Get material and troops to hotspots quickly. Globemasters for setting up Infastructure quickly, and make no mistake, Canada will have those 35's, mainly because we were in for a penny and now we're in for the pound (or 18B bucks). But in cost in cost effectiveness, we couldn't have all these platforms. Something had to give, and now we have fighters we don't NEED.

of course it's freaking dangerous, duh! no one said it was easy. but what a job to have... serving your country and flying those amazing planes. that's why they do it. the danger, the duty, and the thrill. when people say it's cool they mean that these guys deserve the most respect. they are an elite, and do a dangerous job that is crucial to our country's defense ... and they do it so well.

^^...(by saying all branches of the service and air forces i mean all applicable branches of the service btw) into the 5th ten fighter program, and although it is still in its beginning stages having experience as a military with these type of aircraft will benefit once new versions come out and maintenance and unit costs are able to be lowered. although it may seem a waste now, just remember that the F-35 is still in testing phase and many great aircraft had 'growing problems' in their early...

If I want to become a Navy Fighter pilot and i am 16 right now then what are the steps that i need to take to become one. I experience G forces all the time, i race Porsche GT3s and Mercedes on the track so I am familiar with G forces of about 2.5 to 3. I know i would pass all of the physical fitness tests as well.

When I was in college I stole a poster from the local Navy recruitment office: it had a picture of the Blue Angels in tight formation, with the caption, "You Can't Do This On Drugs." Then later I learned about "go" and "no-go" pills, and discovered that you can.

@at9670 The SU-35 most likely if the pilots are the same skill, but both are easily capable, it matters on the pilot. And yes the Euro fighter is good in many ways, but is still worse in other ways.

The landing is hard, the landing at night is worse. There was a doc that followed a pilot's vitals and it was pretty even while doing his runs through hostile airspace until he got to the carrier to land and they shot up. That's why they're called Naval Aviators they're better that pilots.
