The Russians built 58 of these subs under the name Project 641. NATO named them Foxtrot Class. The first one (B-59) was launched Dec. 28, 1957. The Missile Scare, was 13-days (October 16-28, 1962). By this time there were 25 of these subs on patrol. Although this particular sub (B-39), which is rusting away in San Diego, was not actually involved, it was launched April 15, 1967 and was a sister ship to those involved in the crisis. My ears perked up as well when Bobby said it was built in 1967 and involved in the scare. I knew the scare was when Kennedy was alive... so it made me do some reading. Now I know... Thanks Bobby!!! :)

Have watched from the start - Ignore the grumpy old farts Laura, they would not know fun if it smacked them in the mush. Bobby we call that a genniker - spinnakers use a pole and are a luffing nightmare short handed. So totally get why you have a genniker for getting across the Pacific.

why did you guys spend a few hundred dollars to stop in ensinada for a few hours instead of just turning east and crossing the pacific? i'm sure you stocked up before you left? seems like a very expensive stop unless i'm missing something.
@svdellajean2536 жыл бұрын
AZ DONALD one reason is Ensenada is the first stop from San Diego to check into Mexico.
@donaldfafard6 жыл бұрын
thank you della but i'm still confused. why didn't they just sail out across the pacific without the 5 hour check into mexico? if they stayed for a few days it would make sense but the way I see it is they sailed south from san diego, checked into mexico, then sailed off. what am I missing. it makes no sense to provision in mexico for an additional cost of $300 when they could have done it in san diego. so confused... lol.

For what it’s worth. Spinnakers are too much effort for most cruising boats, although they are easier on cats. It’s best sail for deep angles or dead downwind, but DDW is a slow point of sail best minimized. If you have one, make the most of it, but if you’re shopping for a new sail, I wouldn’t recommend it for most cruisers.

More of a reacher than a spinnaker,maybe a whisker pole would help with correct setting, but I do notice most US sailing channels don't know what one is, maybe because they all seem to end up with reachers than true triradial spinnakers. Be nice when you get some REAL sailing in, this coastal motor sailing gets old, but there is Laura for entertainment.
@eskitube60746 жыл бұрын
That's a gennaker, not a spinnaker, right? I have both in my boat and gennaker is much more suitable and easier to handle for cruising.

Your 1080p60 makes my playback stutter (I have to use 720p60), the overall Quality of your KZbins is less than others .. Admittedly I'm using an old Nvidia video card now, my new computer is RMA for a while, but still Compared to other stream that have no issues at all, I would consider there seems to be something 'wrong' with the settings of your encoding/Video editor/Premiere(?) output (the whole flow, could be anything really, but prob conversion from one format to another, you want to check if by chance you’re converting formats that cause this). (btw same goes for your live stream quality, less than others) 2cts
