Just a little recommendation Malaysia is a diverse country so you need to try food from every race if possible. Since I'm Malay, I'd like to recommend you some of our fav local dishes. Nasi Kerabu - nasi (rice), kerabu (salad). It has blue rice which comes from Butterfly Pea Flower, fish flakes, coconut flake, salad, fish cracker, budu (fermented anchovy sauce) and salted egg. You can also eat it with fried chicken (Restaurant Kak Som in Kampung Baru) Nasi Dagang - nasi (rice), dagang (trade, bcs people back then used to eat this dish when they are sailing on ship to do trading business with other countries). It has rice mixed with glutinous rice and other spices, and fish curry (also in Restaurant Kak Som in Kampung Baru but if you really want the authentic version you might want to visit Terengganu in East Coast of Malaysia) Laksa - Laksa is basically noodles served with fish based soup and different states have different takes in laksa. So you can try whichever version you want to according to each state in Malaysia. Ramly burger - I know it's a bit shocking to see an Asian recommending a burger but trust me this burger is a lot more different then the burgers you're used to. Ramly is an originally a burger patty brand that is founded by Malay guy bcs back then there was no halal fast food in Malaysia. Now, Ramly has lots of other frozen products other than patty. You can find Ramly burger stall everywhere in Malaysia at night. Make sure it's Ramly branded patty. Each stall has different takes on how to make this burger, just so you know. I hope you guys enjoy staying in Malaysia 🇲🇾

There are dishes from Negeri Sembilan (not sure where you can get it in KL) that you should try...we call them yellow fivers cos there are yellow in colour, masak lemak daging salai (smoke beef) ikan salai (smoked fish), itik salai (smoked duck), smoked puyuh bird, all eat with rice.

Scoot long haul is pretty good. 32” seat pitch. Scoot short haul is 28” and torture. One flight from Singapore to Bangkok, we got the last row (which does not recline) window and middle seats. The people in the row ahead of us reclined right away. At 6’3” tall, that was pretty excrutiating.

Welcome to Malaysia! As an English as well as a Malaysian and South African, I'm very happy you came over to Malaysia and to try out the Nasi Lemak there. Nasi Lemak is quite common and I love the coconut flavours mixed with the rice. Another thing that's also quite common is Roti Canai but if you were to have Roti Canai for takeaway, I would suggest having a metal container for the sauce so it's not in plastic and so it's safer to eat. In fact, Roti Canai is quite famous for a Malaysian breakfast. Good to see you come to Malaysia! 😁🇲🇾

If you want to try more Malaysian dishes under one roof you should go to ICC PUDU a huge food court. Maybe you can do a research on it to get an idea of what you want to eat. Have you tried indian banana curry leaf. Or go to PELITA restaurant near KLCC to try their nasi kandar, you'll love it or have roti canai for breakfast.

Nasi Lemak tastes best when you mix it all up. Chop up the egg, cucumber, ikan bilis(dried fish with peanuts), chicken or beef and mix it all into the rice with the sambal. 😋
