I asked myself the same question when I first saw them in one of their boutiques. Montblanc, of course, is not the first brand one would turn to when looking for headphones - and I just put them on out of curiosity; I didn't expect anything. But the Mb 01 creates an incredibly wide stage in front of you while producing a warm sound with full, powerful bass. Distortion-free in the mids and highs, as well as decent ANC. They are definitely more than a marketing gimmick.
