Flying an E120 for a US cargo carrier now, I was glad to get the job as I had spent a lot of my time instructing to build time. With how good the regionals are paying now I’m strongly considering them when I get to 1500, which should be before the end of this year.

Ern, your advice is invaluable! It’s so true, nothing in life- and I mean this applies to anything and everything- All paths we take, nothing is given you must earn it. In my opinion this is a great time to get into the game. My dream is to go to flight school. I only hope I can do so before I get too old. I’m nearing 30, and I have some flight training and a few hours. Have ground school out of the way, but could use a refresher. I just need guidance and a game plan!

Scottsdale is appealing except in summer. I once knew an older couple who left AZ for around five months, settling in the upper Midwest to escape that very dry but intense heat. Although, the desert cools down significantly after sundown, only to begin the heat up again sometime after sunrise.

That's been my question too. Understandably, he'll be really busy training and even when he starts his flights he'll be with another captain for more evaluation and training, I believe, so I would imagine videos would slow down for awhile, at least ones in the cockpit. Hopefully, I'm wrong. :D

Your Captain has an expensive hobby, I am an open wheel racing fan and actually worked for two CART teams before (now IndyCar) starting my career "flying rubber dog **** out of Hong Kong". I am a left seater on a 74-8 freighter and I am on the downslope of my career (age wise) I have been fortunate to be with two companies throughout my aviation career and very lucky to have so far not experienced the volatility that this industry is known for and only flown freight. You had great advice for future pilots this is not a glamourous job but can be rewarding , my advice would be to never be afraid to ask the senior for any and all advice there are no dumb questions and thank goodness for CRM and I Pads. There is such a need for pilots right now and I wish every one the best of luck. Congrats Captain BigErn...love your videos stay safe

Are you promoting as soon as seniority allows and going to the very bottom on the list or have you held off for a while to give your self a bit better time as a captain? As you live in a base as guess as long as you can get a PHX slot being at the bottom isn’t as bad as it would be for a commuter.
