have you ever tried doing that thruuup sound that they do? years ago i had a great book that told you what all their sounds meant, and that sound, is follow me, now i do it straight away to cats i meet in the street and they are like putty in my hands! they go all gooey!lol! and speaking in a very slow low baritone voice too petting them is a winner too but the thruuup sound wins over even the meanest of cats!

I wanna go on adventures with my cat. I wanna do things like walking to the lake, driving to the beach or even going fishing with my cat. But my mom doesn’t exactly approve and by the time I’m 18 he’s gonna be 12 in human years and I might be in college so he’s gonna be old and more grumpy plus I would be busy. But when I’m old enough to do things on my own I plan on adopting a kitten and getting it used to traveling with me at an early age so the kitten isn’t as afraid.

I'm A flight attendant. Great video!! If you're flying with a pet, make sure you know if the airline mandates the cat to be in the carrier, or if you can let it out on your lap with harness and leash on. Some airlines won't let you put your hand in the carrier to soothe your pet. I don't agree with that if your pet has a harness and leash. 😣 Airlines keep changing the rules 😒 My family is from Spain too but now live in USA and I still haven't gone to see the motherland! Someday.... Happy travels everyone 😊 Tia

Well you would have to have some flight attendant and hovering over you constantly without leaving your side so to not be able to soothe your pet...see? But definitely recommend having a leash already on your pet so as soon as you put your hand in there you have ASAP control 😉

Thanks so much for this. I'm moving back home to Ireland from China with my cat at the end of the year. Even though I have several months to organise everything, I'm still stressing about the logistics and if I can arrange everything. Everyone keeps telling me to just give her away because it's too much hassle but I can't imagine leaving her behind so this was so helpful to prove to myself it's actually possible.

@Vixin24
@Vixin24 2 жыл бұрын
@@kimbapkoo it was actually fine and definitely worth the hassle involved! The most stressful thing was actually getting to the airport with her since you can't take public transport with a cat and it was awkward getting a taxi into Beijing at that time because of covid restrictions. She meowed the entire time in the car but was actually really good in the plane. The person beside me didn't even realise I had a cat until I opened her carrier to check on her mid flight! The actual logistics were fine. She was terrified though so I kept a scarf over her carrier the whole time except when I had to take her out going through security. Be careful with that. The security people were really nice and helpful but she was so scared and seemed likely to bolt so I had to hold on really tight. I had an 8 hour stopover in Paris where I got her to eat a little and use the loo (I brought a travel litter tray and food with me) but she was mostly really nervous and didn't want to come out of her carrier. I will say it's definitely worth the hassle involved and really isn't as bad as I suspected it would be. I could even imagine traveling with her again if I needed to so I'm sure you'll be fine. I hope this helped a bit. If you have any questions let me know.

You inspired me a lot. When I first discovered your video, it was at the beginning of the year. I didn't have a cat. Since then, I fostered a family of 5 (mom + 4 kitten). 2 of them found their home for ever fews weeks ago and I kept the 2 others + mom. Now I am obsessed by training them, to bring them with us in our human outdoors adventure. My first objective is a trip to my country, France from Canada where I leave, in decembre. I am dying to bring them with us. We started the training. The backpack training is going ok but the harness one will probably take more time. I don't have the time to train them multiple time a day, so I need to discipline myself and make short training session at the end of the day. Anyway, all of this to say that I will re-watch all your video again because it is a gold mine. Thanks for all the good advice.

I have to chime in about the United Air bit. Although they do allow pets in cabin, the pet MUST stay in the carrier, under the seat, the WHOLE flight. I flew with my fur baby round-trip, although a short, 2hr flight, it was not fun for the kitty. She loves her carrier, but was so upset that she didn't get to see me and didn't understand why she was in timeout for so long. The flight attendant kept walking by to make sure I had the carrier all the way under the seat too... It was super stressful for her and my heart was aching every time she'd cry for me. I don't recommend United, unless you have a very chill/anti social pet who doesn't mind isolation. Personally, I'd pay more to fly with my cat like Albert does with Mia.

For me the worst part is the airline issue because it seems that due to the pandemic there are less options and less contact opportunities with them. Thank you very much for your video, very handy tips, my family and I travel to Malaysia and we have been here for 3 years, we adopted a cat her name is Luna and we have to travel to Sweden in December, I am very nervous because is a long trip and Luna is very jumpy, so I will use some of your advice and hopefully we can find an airline that let us have Luna in the cabin. Thank you very much!

This was great. I'm about to fly internationally with two cats and I'm leash training them now. How did Mia handle the hustle and bustle of the airport when she was out on her leash? I'd love more info on that part specifically - how you train her to sit while you're doing something (like checking your luggage), and I think you've mentioned she goes on your shoulders in busy areas, is that correct? Love all your videos.

Another thing to that will help that whole putting your cat on a leash because you have to take the cat out of the carrier when it goes through the check point.... Make sure that you have one of those wee wee pads that you wrap your cat in in case it urinates on you guys due to the nervousness. If you're willing I would go to the airport and maybe get some brochures or anything from the airport that has that airport smell bring it back home so that kitty is familiarized with that smell and then they're not so freaked out. It's not 100% guarantee but at least if you have it at home for a a week or two then they can be familiarized and hopefully not be so traumatized even if it's just by a little bit it's better than nothing. Hope that helps

Great video! Thanks so much. I'm looking at traveling with my bengal from US to Europe as well, but I've been told that for bengals you need prove they are an F5 or later through extensive documentation of previous generations. How did you do that? I'm wondering what documentation I need and who I need to provide it to? Thank you!!

I definitely love your videos! I am considering to take my cat Nala with me next summer vacation to Brazil. The flight from Frankfurt to Rio de Janeiro is quite exhausting... and I fear the whole idea already. Your video brought me some peace of mind... I will try to initiate the trainings with her asap so he finds herself comfortable and safe in her carrier. The leash training will come next after her next vaccination. And I am hoping that the positive parenting ;) with the clicker and treats will keep her from scratching everything around, specially under my bed and her carrier. :)))) Would you mind sharing how long took your flight with Mia and how did you turn your destination to a cat friendly one? Abrazos y suerte!

Albert, what do you give Mia as treat while regular training? Cleo is a DSH feline and she's 3 months she listens to commands but I want her to love the treat. Since you said no free food. I was giving her regular Purina Kitten dry food. But i'm not sure if she really likes it for treats.

Thanks for the kind comment ☺ Most airlines have a limit of 4 pets per plane. Additional to that, they restrict pet transportation to 1 per person. This means that if you have to fly with 2 cats, you'll need one person to fly with you and become the "responsible" for the other cat. Anyhow, every airline has their own policy so my recommendation is that you ask the airline you finally choose to fly with what are the requirements for travelling with 2 furry companions :P

Just a side note... I have two Persians, and although they CAN fly, there are additional things you'll have to check. Brachycephalic pets are only allowed to fly on certain aircraft, only through certain airports, and, depending on temperatures, only certain times of the year. ie my boys and I had layovers in Arizona and Texas, and could not fly until October. This video is incredibly helpful and reflects my experience very concisely. I would add that if you have a pet that is more challenging to fly with, start calling airports and confirming these factoids three months prior as well. See you in the air.
