Not really....I'm in France and so far, I'm not aware of such an 'easy' way to do it with your own car. I'll do some research, though :-)

FRANCE!! Wow, that's awesome, if I were you I would make a trip to Germany and enjoy their roads!!

Awesome videos, as always. I know the suspension is set up well, but I know they have the front tower strut brace, bugger rear sway bars and chassis connector rods, lower springs and even coilover shocks if you want to tweak and fine tune your handling that much. Brakes are always a big thing for me. I would look into the Si brake kit to keep it factory, for less complications, if any. Would shorter throws on the shifter help with the problems you had? I know there are two kits available. One seems more complicated to install, taking apart the whole console and other parts. The other hooks up to the linkage under hood, and us simpler to install, just some things you need to remove for access. There are good videos for both to DIY. I just wish they had all the Si upgrades available for the Sport Hatchback. Maybe a special edition option.

I actually have a mod that I'm doing tomorrow that you would probably be interested in. The biggest problem by far are definitely the brakes, I too wish that a hatchback Si was on offer here in the US, I would have gotten that. Hell, if the Type R were more available I would be getting one of those right now!!

I can confirm that a 2017 Civic Si seat will fit in a 2017 Civic Hatchback. The Si seat is very close to an aftermarket racing seat, but you still get to maintain the safety of the seat position sensor and side bolster airbag. You may be able to use the shifter gate (lever sub assy. change) from a Si (Si rated at 10% shorter stroke by Honda compared to a Civic EX-T) or Type R (could not find a Honda rating, but I would imagine it is the shortest one). Those are supposed to have shorter throws. They are cheap, so if it doesn't work it's not a huge loss. Type R is the one I would try since it is a hatchback chassis. I don't think changing the brakes is as easy as people make it out to be. These cars don't use proportioning valves, it's all built into the ABS Modulator, which is very expensive. So slapping on Si brakes may be the best easy upgrade, I have to wonder how it affects the ABS system/Traction Control. Switching to Type R brakes would be very costly and I'm not positive if it's even practical since the Type R uses different axles, hubs, etc. The Si would certainly be more feasible as it is the closest to a normal Civic in terms of parts, but it remains to be seen how the computer would interact with Si brakes on a Hatchback chassis. And ultimately I wonder if Si owners are looking for an upgrade as well. It may be better to get a big brake kit from a good brake company. I have a feeling Si owners will be wanting a little bit of an upgrade as well.

I think you're right, even the Si brakes are just too small from what I experienced. The brakes just get too hot, way too fast and start losing their effectiveness after a few hot laps. I'll see what the options are as more modifying options come out.

You need to get ceramic brake pads. Cheapest and the most effective. You really don't need to upgrade the brakes system unless you want better stopping distance. If you just want consistency, getting better rotors, or at the very minimum better brake pads are the way to go. I know on my '17 SI, I plan on getting ceramic pads for the front at the very minimum when I start tracking it, or even auto crossing it.

Honda uses ceramic brake pads. Knowing the temperature range that the brakes are in will tell you which aftermarket pads to buy. www.tirerack.com/images/pdf/product/Hawk-Compound-Charts.pdf

Awesome! I plan on attending too. I'm excited to track on the thunderbolt circuit. Turn 10 looks great. Trying to get more folks to join with me too. Friend with another focus ST and a friend with an 8th gen Si we just finished putting the ECU tune on with the Acura TL Type-S brake swap.
@RAY_FILET7 жыл бұрын
what can you do about the shifter? I'm beginning to have the same feeling about it.
@FlyinGato7 жыл бұрын
I think I'll start by putting in an aluminum shift knob, it's weighted and countersunk, and see how that feels.

Are you using the tires that came with the hatch or did you change them for another brand
@FlyinGato6 жыл бұрын
+Jessica Domingue I was using the stock tires, car did pretty well. A tune, better brakes and tires is all the car really needed
