A Cherokee Six once hauled 7 of us (including pilot) and ALL our baggage from Skagway Alaska to Juneau to catch up to the ferry we missed when the train engine broke an axle on White Pass. That was in 1974. I could not believe that little plane could take off with that load but it did with power to spare- awesome plane...and pilot!

Beautiful! I love the 235. We had a 1969 235C in the red and white with a little bit of blue on the tail paint scheme. Unfortunately it was burned by terrorists in 1977 during the Rhodesian Bush War. It was the only time I saw my dad cry. He replaced it with a Beech V35A, which in turn won its place in history as the first and only V-tail Bonanza to be equipped with twin .303 Brownings in pods under the wings. At the end of the war my father had to return it to its civilian state. After my dad passed in 1990 it was sold to a South African gentleman, who took it to Florida when he emigrated from SA.

I was Dir of Ops for a FAR-135 air courier outfit in Orlando, FL. We flew Beech Barons, Cessna 210s and PA-32s, which means we had a boat-load of Continental IO-520s and Lycoming IO-540s to overhaul. At first, we used a local engine shop for our overhauls. Problem was, few of those "overhauled" engines made it to their next TBO without experiencing some sort of substantial, if not catastrophic, problem. At best, a broken jug. At worst, failed cranks, connecting rods or pistons! We tried a Continental Factory Remanufactured IO-520 engine. It made it to TBO with no issues. We bought another Factory Remanufactured IO-520 and it too made it to TBO with no major issues. That was it. From that point forward all replacement engines were Factory Remanufactured and major engine problems virtually became a thing of the past. Sure, they were more expensive than the local overhaul shop, but the cost savings of not having long down times and not having to replace lots of expensive cylinders, pistons and the like, far outpaced the additional cost of the factory remanufactured units. And what price to you put on avoiding the loss of an aircraft and pilot due to an engine related crash. Factory Remanufactured engines are the ONLY way to go.
