Today we fly our 1964 Piper Cherokee 2000 miles across the country in just 2 days. We're flying it to Michigan to go pick up another plane (reveal coming soon). On the way, turns out we were being tracked by the Police and DEA. They "pulled us over" and had a word with us. We bought this plane sight unseen at auction and have flown it all around the country. Last video it did break down but ended up being a simple fix. This is one of the best single engine piston planes!

Just a suggestion, please do not talk to a person doing a prefilght. They may find or miss something that may prevent or cause a failure.

That's part of my briefing. I tell passengers no interruptions, and sterile cockpit. I explain stuff first,even walk first timers around the plane, explaining things, but then the serious stuff begins with the actual uninterrupted preflight.

Looks great polished. I work as a Weights Engineer. When I was on C-130 the painters said they wanted to rub back the paint and add another coat as it had come out a bit orange peely. Just for the fuselage this added 80 lbs. So several coats of paint including primer would definitely double digit lbs.

The Fulton, MO. airport has changed quite a bit since 1973. Soloed there in a 1968 150. The day was windy and overcast,..my instructor said, "if you can fly today,..you can fly any day." Scared,..but everything went smooth. Great to see the town again. Love your videos. Dennis

My Navy primary training was in a T-34 Mentor, similar to your Cherokee. I tried flying a 172, but with the over-wing and lift above me my landings were like a DC-10 with two-engines out. I much prefer sitting on top of the wing. Good on you guys and keep up the safe flying.

9:32 not a life hack but a good piece of advice. I saw a pilot debrief with a fatal crash of a helicopter the pilot had lost their iPad underneath the pedals. It got stuck and they couldn't pull it. Just something you might want to be careful about when you set your iPad on your lap. He couldn't reach the iPad because of the tight quarters of the cockpit. I'd recommend you lanyard if you're going to leave it loose especially if you hit turbulence and you lose it. Unfortunately they didn't survive.

Was born in Missouri and used to work for a beverage company, every 26 days, I was in Fulton, Mexico and Columbia Missouri. I was in Fulton on trip where they had a scare at the nuclear power plant. My boss was blowing up my pager with call shop asap. It was so quiet that day there, most didn’t know there was a false alarm at the plant. So I know that town well. It truly is a small world.

You crossed thru my state I live in Peoria,IL KPIA is where I keep my 1960 beechcraft Debonair. Word of advice on the High alt it is pressure alt for the oxygen. I found that out the hard way flying out west at 9,500 My pulse ox got down to 67. I was some where over texas. I figured out the pressure alt for oxygen from local pilot out in new Mexico. Make sure you are carrying a pulse ox with you keep and Eye on it. It will sneak up on you and can bit you in the butt. I do have a portable oxygen system but I did not have it ready because I didn't think I needed it tell I was flying above 12,500 MSL. With the temp. out side I ran the numbers my pressure alt was 13,000. I was new to using the oxygen system. After that issue I will be using oxygen more often I see the benefits.
@jakebrodie-stedman1128
@jakebrodie-stedman1128 4 күн бұрын
I think you might be getting density and pressure altitude mixed up. Safe oxygen levels do depend on pressure altitude not density altitude but pressure altitude is not affected by temperature.

I have a place down by the border in West Texas Fly from Alpine Texas to East Texas a lot, no ADSB, and very seldom talk on the radio because I normally fly pretty low and land on my own private strip at the house. My local sheriffs office gets a call all the time about following a plane from the border landing on a private strip and then they say no it's OK it's just GB😎 Back in the early 90s I used to crop dust out of Vernon every spring.

This too funny! I live in Phoenix but am currently near Fulton visiting my son in St. Peters MO. I've been following your channel for awhile and have been waiting for you to be pegged, lol. Kind of shocked it hasn't happened before (used to be in law enforcement). The route you are taking is a very busy drug running route by car and by air. In case you are ever in the area again and need an airport try KCPS (St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia Heights Illinois). The FBO is great I've spent many hours there (my brother was a cop in Cahokia for 25 years) and we hang out there sometimes to see the expensive planes that drop off celebrities and the pro sports teams (it's easier than going to the St. Louis International, Lambert Field). They've got everything you could want or need at the FBO and you could make the 10 minute drive to the Arch and take a trip to the top! Be safe guys.
