PVC pipe is very light and unstable, so if you wanted more stability you could add sand to the inside of the pipe in base portion to add weight and keep it from falling over.
@serenitytew82252 жыл бұрын
i would do that for larger breeds like grey cockatoos and macaws but for a smaller bird like hers i think it would be fine but good idea though 👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻
@TurkiBooNyc382 жыл бұрын
I was just thinking of the same thing like that’s play stand is gonna wobble all over the place without something to settle down right. But your idea with the sand is such a good idea in my opinion and I will be gladly using this idea so thank you very much lol

What I use under all cages and play areas for my birds is shower curtains bought at the dollar store. They are easy to sweep up and can be used for a long period of time. They are very easy to clean. Just a suggestion. They can even be taken out and sprayed off with a hose and dry fast.

When using pvc cutters, you gotta twist it around as you cut and it will slide through much much easier. Used these a lot when working a trade.
@FlyingFids4 жыл бұрын
yes that is a great tip!! that's the same tip some guy gave me in the Home Depot parking lot when my sister was helping me cut the 10 ft pipes down so I can carry it on the train 😂 it was a lot easier but some of the pipes came out a little crooked haha thanks so much for sharing!

Pro plumber tip, slide the pex cutter around the pipe as you're cutting. It'll make the cut easier, and ensuring the pipe doesn't bend.

? Slide around? Like rotate the pipe, apply pressure so it digs into it, then rotate the pipe, repeat?

$47 for the PVC pipes and additional items with pipe cuter. Completed it within 20 minutes. I bought $100 worth of toys prior to the project (planet pleasure 21 natural toys for $110 Including shipping) Twine was $12 for 2k feet. Additional natural perches were $40. Overall, less than $100 spent excluding toys since those were bought before the project.

I love this play gym! I went to local plumbing store for the pvc. I paid $24.00. They did all the cutting. I gave the guy a $10.00 tip for doing all the cutting. I have twine and vet tape. I'm going to order rope perches and other stuff to add. I put tiny screws that I had to secure everything together. In a half hour the fids had a great play area! Thank you for this wonderful idea!💙💛💙💚👍👍👍👍

I've owned parrots for years and this is some of the best use of materials that I've seen. Especially love the braid of rope! Was about to make a play area out of wood for Grey's cage top, but now I'm switching to pvc wrapped in sisal and will zip tie to cage top.. Years ago I built a flight cage for finches out of pvc and wire mesh, including a door.

I just wanna give a big thank you for this and not even for the play stand. I just got Sisal and was a little intimidated about trying to make a bendable sisal perch since I can't find any anywhere. I was worried sick about getting the wrong metal and such. Then you braided the rope and I face palmed over the simplicity. I paused the video and immediately braided a rope perch for my sweet boy and it looks great. He's a little wry of it, but I'm sure he's gonna love it once he trusts it.

Thank you! My dad was sick of my English budgie pooping everywhere including the carpet and he said “why don’t we get a stand for maxwell (my lil stinker)?” And I said sure we can order one but he wanted to go all the way and get him a big playstand off of Amazon but I knew that playstands are VERY pricey and let him know and I told him “why don’t we make one?” And he was hesitant to make a playstand as big as this but I told him that we have a lot of room in the house and my bird doesn’t have a playground so he agreed. My mom is also on board with the idea because she’s the one that wanted a bird in the first place after I mentioned wanting my first pet and thought a bird was a good idea! I’m going out with my dad to get the supplies and get toys and food bowls for the play gym. Again thank you so much! 😁

Hi 👋 what a great plan. Thanks for the inspiration, now I’ve learned from your vid I can build purpose built perfect size play gym for my birds. Thank you! TIP: Handy tip about the poo mess.. always leave a clear drop to the floor (no obstructions for poo to land on) and lay PUPPY PADS on the floor. Collects and soaks up poo and liquids your birds drop, throw away and replace when it’s too messy. A little diy masking tape keeps it in place and peels off without leaving any marks. I’ve used PUPPY PADS for my big cockatoo’s for years they are perfect once you’ve located the birds favourite perch and poo 💩 drop zone. I buy puppy training pads from any local pet shop and big supermarket stores but also I’ve seen them in discount stores like pound shop and Wilko etc for economy buys. These absorbent training pads work like nappy/diapers and the juicy mess never reaches your floor. Less and often nothing to clean up. It’s healthier for the humans in the house and the house owners have much less to do on poo patrol !
