Twin Otter and the PAC750XL are such quirky aircraft, two of my absolute favorites. Love seeing them working together. Great Video! thanks . Some crazy looking runways too.

I'm now flying the former P2-BWF in NZ, ZK-DVE. She's a good ship, wish I'd spent some hours flying around the PNG highlands. Oct 2023.

Too bad the Central Aviation shut down. CA did a lot of good for the rural communities around mainland Papua New Guinea. PAC750s are especially perfect for the airstrips here. Hope you had a good run with Echo and CA. Great video. 😊

Great video mate just wish I knew what years the photos and video were taken . You will always remember those years when you are flying around in your Boeing back of the clock as an old pilot like me. I was there in the 80,s what we would have paid for gps and turbo props , haha.
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! That was 2012 I was there. Yes GPS is a marvelous invention, and turboprops are far more reliable and more power in hot humid climates.

Great video of a very interesting place for flying,how did they get that huge runway roller into that remote airstrip ? and did anyone else notice the port wing panel repair on one of the aircraft ! looks like it had struck something ! nothing but admiration for these pilots who serve these communities where overshoots are not any option.
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! The roller would have been trucked in via some very bad roads, or maybe the Hercules C130. The patch on the wing was from a vehicle on the ground colliding with the wing from memory.

Nice, well edited video, including photos, with information about the flights, the strips and life in PNG remote areas. Great job! Should be always like this. Thanks. I suppose it´s already a Simbai airstrip (Madang Province, Momase Region) overview at 1.23? Other than that, I´m spotting P2-BWE, P2-BWF & P2-BWC Central Aviation PAC 750XL, at least, along the whole video. And, of course, other aircrafts from different airlines or organizations. As for Tari (Southern Highlands Province, Highlands Region) at 7.03. Is it Ambua Lodge airfield? Where are you currently flying? Back in NZ?

Greencorner thanks for the kind words! Yes you're correct with the locations. I'm now flying back in NZ.

You really take your life in your own hands there in New Guinea. That PAC750XL looks like a great heavy duty single engine passenger/cargo hauler. Inasmuch as New Guinea and those villages you go to is in poverty, who pays for your services and pays your salaries? It appears there is always a greeting party waiting for you when you land. Aren't you guys concerned you could catch them on a bad or in a foul mood?
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ3 жыл бұрын
Yeah PNG certainly has its hazards! I never had anyone directly attack me, but there were certainly a few times that I ended up quite close to disputes and so I got outta there asap. They are generally very welcoming though and they recognize that pilots bring all their treats from outside. I always tried to be cheerful and greet them like friends which they liked. They loved having their photos taken when they were all dressed up and could show off.

Thank you! I was flying as a co-pilot in West Papua with mission airlines. Papua New Guinea I’ve heard is one of the most criminal and dangerous places to be...?
@TheFlyingKiwiNZ4 жыл бұрын
Yes, it certainly had its moments. The weather, terrain, corruption and fighting and crime among the locals means you have to have your guard up at all times.

Just the sounds of the planes and the people would have been enough. It's obvious you weren't sure what would please your viewers, so you added the distracting, out-of-sync music. I'm sure you're very young. Right?
